At the Maxxis Summit this past weekend, Aaron Chase pulled all eyes to the rooftop of the Mulberry Gap barn as he climbed up then rolled down it, cleaning the jump not once, not twice, but three times. We caught it all on video, along with a quick bike check to see what he’s done to his Pivot Firebird. Images, both moving and still, below…

Aaron’s running Pivot’s new Phoenix handlebar with a Race Face 35mm ID stem. The bar pairs with Pad Lock grips, but Pivot used a much softer outer rubber to cushion the nerves on the outside of the palm.

The key customization on Aaron’s bike is the front brake line run through the headset cap and steerer tube. FSA makes one in their Gravity line that uses a separate hole from the bolt and altered wedge system, but this one looks like Brake Through’s BMX-style cable-thru-the-bolt design.

…but Aaron just got his cranks in and hadn’t had time to swap them over. In the video he also mentions a rigid seatpost, but over the weekend he did have a KS dropper in there for a bit. The explanation? It’s really early in the season and not all sponsor parts have arrived, so there are a few mixes and matches until it’s dialed for event season.

I’ve gotten so inured to these guys doing bat-sh*t crazy stuff that rolling off a roof seems pretty pedestrian.
