If you ride enough DH or Enduro, chances are pretty high that you’ll take a tumble or two. That makes it pretty critical that you have a safe and effective helmet for when the shit hits the fan. More than just having a quality helmet, you want something that will last. And while most helmets are intended as single impact, POC new Coron Air Carbon Spin full face will take a lick and keep on ticking.

In addition to the Coron Air SPIN that was launched last year at Eurobike, the Coron Air Carbon SPIN is essentially a lighter version with a carbon shell instead of fiberglass. Both helmets feature a Multi-Impact EPP (expanded Polypropylene) liner which is a bit heavier than a traditional EPS (expanded Polystyrene), but it allows the helmet to absorb multiple impacts rather than compressing after one hit. The use of a carbon shell drops the weight down to 1070g which isn’t the lightest full face out there, but it may be the lightest with this level of safety features built in.

The ‘Air’ portion of the name refers to the 20 ventilation ports and internal channels built to funnel air through the helmet at any speed. This is key for use as an enduro helmet where hot days full of pedaling require something more ventilated than the standard DH lid.

The addition of the new SPIN pads adds another element of safety with silicone injected pads that provide protection from oblique impacts. You’ll also find removable cheek pads for easy helmet removal in the event of a serious crash, a break away visor, and other details designed to make the helmet more comfortable to use on a daily basis.
