MRP continues to innovate at a larger scale than their size would seemingly warrant, this time debuting a unique progressive coil for their new Hazzard rear shock, and a modified version of their Ramp Control Cartridge for the new dual crown Bartlett fork. The latter is aimed at park riders that don’t need a full DH fork, but still want to get plenty rowdy…or a very aggressive enduro racer. With a 5.5-5.7lb claimed weight, it’s not far off of today’s long travel single crown options.

Based on their Ribbon single crown fork, the Bartlett shares the 35mm stanchions and comes in both 27.5 and 29er sizes in 170mm to 190mm travel options. It has an independently tunable positive and negative air spring, and it comes with this:

The extra air volume from the longer stanchions made room for this new Ramp Control Cartridge. It starts with their RCC that lets you tune the end stroke ramp, then adds spacers to adjust the volume.

Retail will be $1,289, available in June 2018.

MRP Hazzard Coil Shock

The trick with putting a coil spring on a bike designed for an air shock is that the two typically require very different leverage ratios and curves. But more riders are rekindling their love affair with the coil shock, so MRP came up with a clever solution: A progressive coil adds 100lbs of force over the range of travel, creating a “ramp” to mimic what an air shock would do. So if your frame has a linear leverage ratio designed for an air shock, you could use this on it.

This coil spring is for trail and Enduro bikes, built with shorter lengths and strokes to fit bikes from 140mm rear travel and up, but probably really 160mm+ bikes. They’ll also offer standard and lightweight steel coil springs, in addition to the progressive spring. External controls include a rebound adjustment knob, and their on/off compression lockout switch. There’s a blow off circuit, so it’ll still react if you hit something big while locked out, and technically it’s just very firm, not totally locked, but they say you’ll notice when it’s locked.

Also available in June, retail is $649 for shock body plus $140-$150 for the coil.
