Race Faces’s AR & ARC series have been popular options for wheel builders since their introduction. They’re strong, fairly light, tubeless ready, and available as a rim only which allows them to be built to fit nearly any modern (or older) mountain bike. Now, they’re getting even better with a number of updates to make them stronger and to add even more build options.

Easton AR, ARC, & ARC HD tubeless rims get revised offset profile, further updates

One of the biggest changes for all three rim models is the new offset spoke design. This is in an effort to improve the spoke tension balance between sides of the wheel for improved strength and stiffness. This same offset design is available on all of the rims from 25mm to 40mm wide internally, all with a tubeless ready profile and a solid bead retention system.

The AR series is essentially the aftermarket version of their previously OEM only rim. This rim for the aftermarket sees use of 6061 alloy which Easton says will give comparable strength to the previous generation of the ARC rims. Available in 25, 30, 35, & 40mm internal widths in 27.5″ and 29″ rims, the AR Offset Rims will sell for $64.99-69.99.

Hi Allison, you can see that on the Race Face website in the technical documents under each rim!

Technically these cant be any worse than the original version. Worst. Rims. Ever. Softer than soft.

Couldn’t disagree more; I have four sets of I-9’s ( and one set of AC hubs) built to either ARC 30s or ARC 35s and I’ve had zero issues. They look good, air up easily and hold air well, and theyre relatively i expensivw. If you’re denting ’em THAT easily, then that’s on YOU
(but at least you’re having fun!)

Which then begs the question why they felt the need to change to AL-6069?

I second that they’re soft. If you ride on slickrock or granite, these things don’t hold up too well.

Pretty much impossible for the 27.5″ rims to have an ERD of 596 as it says in the tech specs underneath the offset (not HD rim) listed above.

Thanks for catching that – it was a typo on our part – the ERD for the 27.5 ARC and AR is 562mm
