Only fools don’t carry tools! California’s Fix Manufacturing says no tool is worth anything unless it’s there when you need it, so they’ve made it easy to carry their sport-specific multi-tools in their proprietary belt buckle… or just in your pocket.
Bikerumor checked out the first version of this concept back in 2016, when the All-Time Belt and three different multi-tools were successfully introduced via Kickstarter. After two years of refinement, Fix manufacturing’s new All-Out Belt is lighter, slimmer, simpler and costs less than the original.
Fix’s multi tools haven’t changed, so they’ll work with the original belt or the All-Out model. There are, however, some notable changes to the new belt and its buckle…
The All-Out buckle holds the tools in place with a patent-pending Payload Pocket ™ spring mechanism, which was designed to prevent accidental ejection of the tool. The multi-tools simply slide in and out of the buckle’s right side and clip themselves in place.
One nifty addition is a ‘cheater bar’ cut-out on the buckle’s left side. Some of Fix’s tools are designed to hook into this cut-out, so you can use the buckle as a handle to get some leverage out of the tiny tools. Another great feature carries over from the previous model- There’s a bottle opener cut-out on the buckle’s backside for post-ride refreshments!
The All-Out Belt is made from an elastic webbing that offers an ideal amount of stretch for pants or shorts. The belts come in one size, and the length can be adjusted at the left side of the buckle. Where the All-Time belt had a cam-style buckle, the All-Out model’s belt has a sewn-in loop on the end which simply hooks onto the right side of the new buckle.
The All-Out Belt is sold on its own, and can be equipped with any of Fix’s multi-tools- The Wheelie Wrench for cycling, the Board Sword Pro for skateboarding, or the Powder Pliers for skiing/snowboarding. Fix says there are more tool options coming soon, so keep an eye on their website for upcoming announcements.
The Wheelie Wrench packs 17 tools into its tiny body, including: 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6mm allen keys, T10 and T25 Torx bits, #2 Phillips and slotted screwdrivers, a tire lever, 8 and 10mm box wrenches, an open 15mm wrench, two spoke wrenches, and a bottle opener.
The multi-tool bodies are made from anodized 6061 aluminum with an injection molded spring mechanism, and the bits are made from corrosion-resistant, heat-treated alloy. Fix’s multi-tools are about the size of a matchbox, and if you don’t like the belt buckle idea they’ll fit into the coin pocket on most pants. The new All-Out Belt is available online for $35 USD, and the Wheelie Wrench sells for $30.
