After getting positive feedback to the more padded version of their curved Aspide road saddle, San Marco are adding more cushion to the flat Mantra road race saddle too. Still meant to be performance oriented saddles, the Supercomfort series adds thicker foam cushioning, plus a gel layer and a large cutout to improve comfort, especially for shorter rides.

Mantra Supercomfort extra padded flat profile road saddle

San Marco says that the Mantra Supercomfort is designed for one of two rider types – those who generally ride <2 hours and have not adapted their subcutaneous tissue that supports the sit bones for longer rides, or on the other extreme riders who spend >5 hours or more in the saddle and need the extra pressure relief. If you are in between, you likely will feel the Mantra Supercomfort is too squishy for regular riding.

Tech Details

The Mantra Supercomfort remains performance oriented. It features the same popular flat shape as the Mantra, but in the variation with a prominent central relief cutout. It is available in the ti alloy railed Racing level with a perforated synthetic cover and weights starting at ~200g & ~150€ , or in the more affordable manganese railed Dynamic level for 99€ with weight from 236g.

Both versions are 278mm long with durable Microfeel breathable synthetic covers, and are available in Narrow 136mm or Wide 148mm widths. They each share the same multi-density Biofoam padding, topped with an extra layer of Gel padding for the Supercomfort feel. San Marco says that the edges of the extra padding have specifically been optimized so that they do not bunch up under compression (when sat on) like many other thickly padded saddles. Underneath a carbon-reinforced nylon shell provides a balance of flex and support. Get them now from San Marco directly, or through their regular dealer network.
