Look’s own homepage seems to offer a teaser of a new lightweight carbon climbing bike fitted with disc brakes. Besides the obvious missing rim brakes on the bike with 785 visible on the seattube, it has the unmistakable Red eTap Hydro levers. Most likely a disc brake version of the 785 Huez lightweight carbon disc brake road bike, we can’t wait to see more…
Look 785 Huez Disc light carbon disc brake road bike
If Look’s partnership with Insta-famous rider/model Malena Nowotarska and her Look Team Granfondo tells us anything, it’s that a disc brake version of their lightweight carbon 785 Huez road bike is imminent.
No official details from Look so far, other than the fact that they are an exhibitor at Eurobike which is just a week and a half away.
What we can see from screen grabs from the youtube video teaser for the Team Granfondo preview of the upcoming Marmotte sportive ride is clearly a Look 785 Huez RS according to its frame decals. But it drops the rim brakes on the current model in favor of flat mount disc brakes (and no seatstay bridge.)
Clearly there is routing for internal hydraulic brake lines and shift wires. But Malena’s bike has a SRAM Red eTap group, so a few of those cable ports go unused. It also looks like she is riding the new Exakt powermeter pedals co-developed with SRM. No surprise there, since we saw her at Exakt’s product launch.
The rim brake 785 Huez weighs just 730g in its top RS version, so this is likely to be one of the lighter production disc brake road bikes on the market as well. We will keep our eyes open for the new bike, and cross out fingers for good wide racing tire clearance.
