Yes, it’s mid August and cross is… doing something. If you’re stoked for the upcoming cross season, you may also be excited to hear that Speedvagen has two new Ready Made builds that you could actually have in your hands by this October.

Building on their cyclocross heritage, the Ready Made Cross series is meant to get riders onto Speedvagen bikes that will get used to their fullest potential. It’s easy to look at a Vanilla or Speedvagen and thing, ‘man, that is too pretty to trash on the cross circuit.” But at the end of the day, that’s exactly what the bikes are built for, and Speedvagen hopes that by introducing bikes with a lower barrier to entry they’ll get more people on their rides.

Starting with the Ready Made CX or RMCX, the build includes a hand built steel frame with a color matched Whisky CX No. 9 Flat Mount disc brake carbon fork. The frame itself includes the Speedvagen details you’re used to seeing like an integrated seatmast, lightweight steel tubing, and stainless steel reinforcements along with flat mount disc brakes and thru axles front and rear.

Additional frame detials include an external tapered headset, PF30 bottom bracket, and external shift housing with internal brake housing.

Since this is a cross race bike after all, the build includes 700 x 32mm Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires on Mavic Allroad Elite wheels. To complete the spec, you’ll find a SRAM Force 1 Hydro group, and quality parts like a Cane Creek 40 headset, PRO PLT Bars, and more. Offered in the full Speedvagen size run, the RMCX starts at $5,995 – though there are a number of upgrades you can add if desired.

Important order note: If you want your RMCX by October, you need to get your order in, no later than the 28th of August. That’s when the order window closes for the 2018 production run.

If you’re not into gears, then maybe the RMSSCX will catch your eye. Available in the Workshop Team Edition build, this is a no-compromise spec that Speedvagen believes in so much, they won’t let you make any changes.

Fortunately, you shouldn’t have to as this thing is dialed. Following the trend of flat bar single speed cross racing, the steel frame is 1x specific and is matched to a Whisky CX No. 9 flat mount disc brake carbon fork. Again, thru axles are used front and rear, and the frame uses a White Industries eccentric bottom bracket to tension the chain.

The Team edition also has a one of a kind paint job that is only available on this bike. Inspired by Detroit Agate, the paint is a complicated process based on their A-Team scheme.

As mentioned, the RMSSCX is WYSIWYG – no changes are allowed. But you can choose your size from the full size run. The bike is priced at $6,695 and like the RMCX, the order window closes on August 28th.

Yeah, yeah, nice bike. But do tell about that “Gear Clamp”/SS cog holder thingy on the cassette body. What is that?!

Why? Its not it’ll melt away from exposure to sun. It may get dirty, but just scrub it out before your remove/move the gear clamp. Not like the normal spacer rings seal the cassette off anyway.

Having a single speed bike with a hub that’s spaced for gears is not “dialled” its a bodge. Could have used a single speed BMX style hub from Profile or Chris King then you may have started calling it dialled.

I have the SS Industry 9 rear hub in exactly that colour. how badly do you need a thru axle that you run a bike with more dish than necessary??

That much for a CX bike with a PF30 bb? Pass. Paying that much for a creaky bike is aero road bike territory.
