Calling back again to company founder Bart Brentjens’ victory in the first Olympic mountain bike race in Atlanta, GA way back in 1996, American Eagle is issuing a super limited edition of their World Cup racing XC hardtail. A series of only 20 of the limited edition gold frames will be numbered and hand-signed by Brentjens, and will include an invitation to train with Brentjens in 2019 and a lifetime discount of future AE bikes.

We covered the XC race-ready Atlanta 2.0 when Brentjens’ pro team first raced on the bikes in 2017. The Atlanta 2.0 Olympic Gold LTD series of twenty frames will get signed & numbered, with sparkly high gloss black graphics on the Olympic Gold base. (That matching gold rigid fork unfortunately does not appear to be for sale.)
American Eagle sees the 2695€ LTD frame as a collector’s piece, but it is fully ready to race too. Interestingly enough, the LTD frame sells for the same price as the standard bikes, plus a few extra perks.
Buyers of the LTD frames also get an American Eagle Cycling team riding kit, plus a Gold LTD membership card good for a 10% discount on all future American Eagle purchases (like maybe the full-suspension XC bike they are expected to debut soon for racing next season and a gravel bike that is also expected to drop in 2019.) Buyers will also get an invite to a Gold LTD Edition Mountainbike Masterclass training event led by Bart Brentjens in mid 2019.

Designed exclusively for XC racing, the light & stiff T700/T800 mix 29er hardtail gets a steep headtube & short rear end for fast, precise handling.
Designed to be 1x specific, the production bike has internal cable routing and does have mounts for a chain guide.
The Boost-spaced XC hardtail features an oversized bottom end with a dropped driveside chainstay & BB30. A 27.2mm seatpost maintains a bit of comfort for the rider.
American Eagle claims a weight of 950g for a medium frame, with the bike available in three sizes (15.5″, 17.5″ & 19.5″). We weighed a large, early production team bike last year at roughly 1180g.
