For those looking to make their trail head or race warm up zone a little more comfortable, a vehicle awning is a pretty good way to do it. Assuming you have some room around your vehicle, the awning is attached to your roof rack making transport and set up easier, and when you’re done, it zips back in place and you’re ready to go. Now with the Rhino Rack Batwing Compact Awning, that same convenient shade and protection from the elements is available for smaller vehicles.

One of the the things that made the original Rhino Rack Batwing awning so popular, is the fact that it provides 270° of UPF 50+ rated shade, yet easily folds up into a single sided mount on your roof rack. However, the original was bet fit for larger vehicles – which is where the Batwing Compact comes in.

Intended for “small to medium vehicles or short wheelbase 4WDs,” the Batwing Compact measures 79″ long and offers 6.4m² / 68.9ft² of shaded cover when opened. Offered in left or right specific designs, the awning weighs in at 39lbs which is important to consider depending on the maximum load rating of your roof rack. Out of the box, the awning will fit all Rhino Rack and Thule Aero roof racks, and it will fit a wide range of other roof racks with the correct fit kit (sold separately, including Thule square and Yakima round cross bars).
