Rapha’s annual Women’s 100 doesn’t kick off until September, but it gets a great looking new limited edition kit that goes on sale today. Canyon//SRAM has been racing (& winning) in the new kit at the OVO Women’s Tour of Britain this week. The Women’s 100 is all about building a community of women riding together, and the pros of Canyon//SRAM are racing in the kit at the live televised Tour of Britain encourage more women to participate in the global event this autumn with 100km rides planned around the world.
2019 Rapha Women’s 100 limited edition cycling kit
The Women’s 100 on Sept 14, 2019 is a collection of rides, some organized by Rapha, but many just planned grassroots-style by women looking to get more ladies on the bike. While 100km of riding is an average weekend ride for some, many new riders use it as a huge goal for the year, and motivation to get out & train more too.
The striking design for the 2019 kit carries over the navy & coral colors of past years, in a look that will stand out for the September event, but will look good year round.
The actual kit Women’s 100 kit going on sale today is for the most part pulled from Rapha’s more affordable Core line. The women’s-cut W100 Core Jersey above sells for £60 / $90 / 70€ and is meant to be accessible to anyone who wants to ride the event this autumn.
A more premium level short sleeve jersey like the pro women are racing in will also be available for riders looking for a closer fit and higher performance. The W100 Souplesse Aero Jersey sells for £140 / $150 / 135€, featuring all of Rapha’s top aerodynamic tech developed with the pro team.
Bibs are also Core, with the women-specific W100 Core Bib Shorts selling for £85 / $115 / 100€ with the same chamois pad as in the twice as expensive Women’s Classic bibs.
Of course there is a £20 / $30 / 25€ W100 cotton cycling cap for those looking to represent the Women’s 100 on the bike without laying out a wad of cash.
A £15 / $20 / 17.50€ pair of lightweight W100 Souplesse socks are another small, affordable option. Or if you are looking to show the Women’s 100 love off the bike, there is the £25 / $35 / 30€ W100 supporter’s T-shirt too.
Most of the new kit is live, direct from Rapha now, with the rest expected later today.
Canyon//SRAM in Women’s 100 kit at Tour of Britain
Getting the longtime Rapha-sponsored Canyon//SRAM pro women (and already wearers of some of the most visible pro kit) was an obvious choice. But picking the venue to showcase the new Women’s 100 design was even a bigger deal.
“The OVO Women’s Tour sets the current gold standard of bike races in women’s cycling. Built from scratch, it is one of the best organized stage events within professional racing. Media coverage is outstanding and the prize purse is also amongst the highest in the sport. [Equal payouts for the pro women & pro men!] Every day the roads are packed with spectators, the start and finish areas are filled with fans having close access to their heroes; it’s the perfect stage to do the Rapha Women’s 100 kit changeout and inspire hundreds of women to ride together,” says team manager Ronny Lauke.
As for those bikes… no word on Canyon offering a team replica of the Women’s 100 edition of Canyon//SRAM’s lightweight Ultimate CF SLX Disc or aero Aeroad CF SLX Disc road bikes.
