Bontrager announced new top-end MTB kicks, the X-X-X Mountain Bike Shoe. Using their stiffest OCLV carbon soles with inForm Pro ergonomic lasts, they’re designed for maximum power transfer and efficiency. A TPU upper and dual independent IP1 Boa dials keep things comfy up top, along with full 360 degree perforation for pro-level cooling.
Bontrager X-X-X Mountain Bike Shoes
Bontrager is overhauling their top “luxury” shoe offerings, now moving on to the MTB side after tackling high-end road. The new Triple-X Mountain Bike Shoe is their premiere offering, aimed at racers looking for maximum power transfer, or those with enough disposable income to buy the best there is.
The soles use 100% OCLV carbon fiber, hitting a maximum level of stiffness on the Bontrager scale (14 out of 14). Tachyon rubber lugs are said to provide maximum grip for your hike-a-bike adventures.
The outside of the shoe has Bontrager’s GnarGuard coating, to help protect your investment against abraisons. They’ve also added extra flexibility to the latest version to help the shoe conform to the top of your foot. The rest of the upper is made of TPU material, said to be “lightweight and luxurious”.
The new X-X-X Mountain Bike Shoes are available in the three color options above, for a retail price of $400. Weight comes in at 331 grams for size 42. The size range covers 36 – 48, with no information provided on half sizes or wide options.
