Look Geo-Trekking pedals bring performance, visibility to urban & adventure riders

Look’s all-new Geo Trekking line mixes hybrid clipless & platform pedals designed for both pedaling performance and ease-of-use on & off-road. Each of three new pedals share a flat platform body & single-sided recessed clipless design, plus a new high-powered, rechargeable Vision light system for exponentially improved visibility.

Look Geo Trekking hybrid clipless & platform pedals

Yesterday we looked at a new hybrid clipless/platform pedal from DMR designed for performance gravity riding. But these new hybrid Look Geo Trekking pedals target a wider range of cyclists from e-mountain biking to urban commuting. The same basic concept applies, offering the pedaling efficiency & clipped-in security of clipless and the ease-of-use & convenience of a flat platform pedal.

Tech details

Each of the new pedals shares an adjustable, SPD cleat-compatible retention mechanism (including Look X-Track easy release cleats), and chromoly steel axles spinning on two sets of ball bearings.

They all include conventional pedal reflectors, but can also be augmented with a set of compact Vision LED lights (one light per pedal standard) that take visibility to the next level, thanks to their rotating motion as you pedal. The 15 lumen Vision pedal lights have steady & flashing modes and 180° visibility, with up to 30 hour run times & fast 50 minute USB rechargeable batteries.

2020 Look Geo Trekking

The platform side is what really differs from one Geo Trekking pedal style to the next. This affordable core model uses an open 84mm wide composite body with molded-in traction grooves on each side. The plastic Geo Trekking weighs 203g per pedal and sells for 60€. With the two lights included, the Geo Trekking Vision rises to 100€ and 217g more per pedal.

Buying the Vision lights on their own (a pack of two for two pedals, or to double up on the Vision models that already include two lights) costs 60€, and adds another 14g per pedal.

2020 Look Geo Trekking Grip

The urban commuter Grip version fills the platform side completely with a soft elastomer gripper design for better traction and less soft sole damage for standard street shoes. The 70€ commuter Geo Trekking Grips weigh 228g per pedal.

Oddly enough, the commuter Grip pedals do not offer a Vision light package option, but still appear to be compatible with the aftermarket Vision light kit.

2020 Look Geo Trekking ROC

ROC is Look’s highest performance pedal in the new Geo Trekking family, with a performance off-road focus intended for e-MTB use. Its 83mm wide machined alloy body is the most durable out of the bunch, with a similar open mud-clearing design to its plastic analogue, but also adding eight replaceable traction pins for more customizable platform grip. The alloy Geo Trekking ROC sells for 100€ (233g per pedal) or 140€ including the Vision lights.

All of the new pedals & light combos will be available globally through regular Look distribution by the middle of October 2019.
