Last summer Vision revamped their completely integrated Metron TFA aero bar with a new swoopy JS-bend & improved adjustability. Now, the more modular TriMax Carbon aerobar gets the same improved ergonomics with even wider fit adjustment, plus you can use it with any standard stem to go just as fast…

The latest 680€ TriMax Carbon is a bit simpler than the 110€ more expensive Metron TFA (which FSA/Vision dubbed The Fastest Aerobar). This new time trial/triathlon bar gets a rather complicated name – the TriMax Carbon SI 013 – in an effort to distinguish it from many previous iterations of TriMax Carbon aerobars. Like those before it, the TriMax maintains compatibility with any standard 31.8mm stem (while the Metron aero bars use a one-piece bar+stem.)

While more integration is all the rage in improving aerodynamics, getting your fit perfectly dial is especially important in time trialing & triathlon racing, so the standard stem option of the TriMax Carbon is especially interesting to anyone needing a less typical fit.  Also with the number of TT & tri bikes that already have incredibly integrated fork to frame designs, sometimes a one-piece bar+stem like the Metron TFA simply won’t fit (like on Vision-sponsored triathlete Dylan Gleeson’s Felt that he just raced in Kona a week ago.)

What’s new?

Compared to the previous versions of the TriMax Carbon, this one adopts the new carbon JS-bend extensions that are said to be both more aerodynamic & more ergonomic. The new bar also gets the same full range fit adjustability that was introduced with the TFA.

You get wide adjustability ranges for armrest reach, stack & width, plus extension length & angle, and a basebar that can be flipped right or upside down. Additionally, with the ability to use a standard 31.8mm clamp stem, you add another point for bar stack & reach adjustment, plus the ability to rotate the basebar angle (in addition to armrest/extension angle.) And all of that is said to be easily adjustable with easy to access bolts.

This aero bar is all about adjustability. The 400mm wide basebar has +/-25mm of drop/rise, then 70-145mm of armrest stack adjustability. Armrests can be adjusted in & out, even angled, then they can be rotated up to 16° with the extensions.

The basebar & extensions are all carbon, with internal cable routing and Di2 compatibility. Then forged 6061 brackets tie it all together, while still coming to just a claimed 780g with all hardware.

If you are looking for similar ergonomics & fit adjustability on top of a regular dropbar, there is also a new TriMax Carbon Clip-on JS-bend setup as well. For 289€ the 500g clip-on bars get the same adjustable extensions with a fixed 55mm stack and almost the same armrest adjustability.
