For those who pedal to and from work, it’s likely the most important and expensive piece of equipment you’re hauling is a laptop computer. If you ride through all kinds of weather conditions, you might want to check out TimBuk2’s ‘No Wet Laptops’ campaign for 2020.
If you own a Brompton bike, the brand has just released their largest messenger bag yet; the 23L Metro L. This bag has been updated with a redesigned interior which now includes a padded laptop compartment.
All bags in TimBuk2’s No Wet Laptops line feature waterproof fabrics, taped seams, coated zippers and protective laptop sleeves. The laptop line expands with two new models for 2020, and several of TimBuk2’s classic bags have been updated with new colors as well. Certain updated models will be available starting Feb. 1, with the others arriving March 1st.
Lane Commuter Backpack:
The new Lane Commuter Backpack is a revision of TimBuk2’s popular 30L Parker Commuter Backpack. The Lane Commuter is a smaller 18L pack, which is ideal for daily needs. TimBuk2 says the pack’s water resistant drop liner and zip-away rain fly make it ultra rain and storm proof.
Storage-wise, the bag has three pockets on the back, one protected by a flap and two with large glove-friendly zipper pulls. Inside the main compartment is an externally accessible laptop sleeve, and outside you’ll find mesh pockets on both sides (ideal for water bottles), and a carry handle.

The Lane Commuter offers a padded back panel and an adjustable sternum strap. It also boasts a reflective panel across the lower back and two more on the front of the shoulder straps. The Lane Commuter Backpack will be sold in Jet Black, Olivine, and a new Granite color (Grey with an Indigo cast and Pale Pod Green accents) as of March 1st. MSRP is $179.
