Nukeproof Cub Scout hardtail is a lightweight progression platform for mini-rippers

The all-new Nukeproof Cub Scout is what the brand are calling “a selfish addition” to their range of mountain bikes, wanting to deliver a lightweight progression platform for their own children, and for Sam Hill’s young family. The Kid’s Mountain Bike is modelled on Nukeproof’s award-winning Scout hardtail for adults. Nukeproof are offering the children’s mountain bike in 20″, 24″ and 26″ options, catering to kids aged 5 and upwards. Nukeproof Cub Scout Kid’s Mountain Bike Range

When it came to designing the Nukeproof Cub Scout, every last detail of the bike, including geometry, wheel size, fork, and componentry was tailored to suit children. The Cub Scout offers a slightly steeper head tube angle than the adult Scout, at 66.5 degrees in the 20″ and 24″ versions, 66 degrees in the 26″ version. The seat tube angle is very slack at 72.5 degrees. Reach and seat tube measurements have been tailored to serve rider heights of 3ft 9″ to 5ft 1″, with recommended inside leg measurements of 52cm to 70cm.

The Cub Scout frames are composed of a lightweight custom butted 6061 alloy. All sizing options are available in two models; Race and Sport. The 20″ Cub Scout Sport is the only model in the range to feature a fully rigid fork. The rest have suspension forks, ranging from 80mm on the 20″ Race, 100mm on the 24″ models, and 120mm on the 26″ models.

All componentry has been carefully selected to cater to small humans. The hydraulic disc brakes seen on every model have short stroke levers to suit smaller hands, handlebars are narrow at 600mm in the 20″, the drivetrains are 8 or 9-speed, dependent on the size and model, while other contact points such as grips and saddle are from the Nukeproof Neutron Jr range.
