Just a few weeks ago, Industry Nine’s carbon mountain bike rims got completely revised. Now they’re switching gears into gravel & cross. In an effort to modernize their gravel and CX wheels for wider tires or better tire profile, the new UL250c wheels feature an updated rim profile that is wider, and still very light weight.
Unlike the new mountain rims which are now manufactured by We Are One Composites, the UL250c rim is still manufactured by I9’s long time carbon rim partner, Reynolds Cycling. The revised rim now features a 25mm internal width which is optimized for 33-55mm wide tires. Available in 700c only, the rims have a claimed weight of just 350g each with 24h.
UL250c TRA
Meant for all conditions and all terrains, the UL250c TRA is the burlier of the two wheels and features Industry Nine’s System aluminum spokes. This is said to offer increased stiffness over steel spokes, and of course it gives you the option of customizing the look with their AnoLab. Offered with CenterLock hubs only, their Torch Road hubs offer 60 points of engagement, and the wheels have a 1350g claimed weight.
UL250c CX
For the lightest build, the UL250c CX wheelset uses the same rim, but with Sapim CX-Ray bladed steel straight pull spokes and standard nipples. Supposedly the lightest gravel option available from I9, these wheels have a 1320g claimed weight with Torch Road hubs. Note that the CX wheels are available in either CenterLock or 6 bolt configurations.
Both wheelsets are available in most standard axle configurations for road, gravel, and CX, and each can be ordered with HG11, Campy, SRAM XDR, or even a steel HG11 freehub. Pricing for both wheelsets starts at $2,250 with additional options for steel or ceramic bearings and color options.
