Rotor’s affordable & light Vegast 24 crank arms expand versatile and modular fit options with new 24mm axle version. Now able to slide into almost any road, all-road, or gravel bike, no matter the bottom bracket standard, the Vegast is an easy way to open up drivetrain upgrade options for more bikes, whether you are looking for direct mount chainrings, a 1x conversion, or the possibility to add a power meter spider, now or in the future…
Rotor Vegast 24 affordable, alloy all-road cranks
Rotor first debuted their modular Vegast crank arms two years back as a light & affordable platform to put together a crankset for any road bike setup, but limited to a 30mm axle and bikes with a compatible bottom bracket. Now much like they’ve done with several of their high-end cranks, a new 24mm axle version makes these a simple drop in upgrade or replacement for bikes already fitted with Shimano cranks or other 24mm bottom brackets.
Vegast 24 modular crankset – Tech details & pricing
With the modular Vegast setup, you start with a set of alloy arms – available in 165, 170, 172.5 & 175mm lengths. The arms are forged then CNC-hollowed out, with three internal holes bored from axle to pedal to shave weight.
Then, you pick whatever type & number of rings you want. Using Rotor’s proprietary OCP direct mount, you can either pick either a spider to use standard chainrings (4-bolt 110mm BCD Shimano-style & 5-bolt 110 BCD compact road spiders are available) or a direct mount ring setup. Rotor offers direct mount rings in single 1x or double 2x configurations, and with round or their oval QRings that can be finely adjusted to your personal ‘Optimal Chainring Position’ (OCP) in 1° increments to perfectly optimize the max power output based on individual pedaling style.
Of course, the OCP direct mount also gives the option of adding an INspider power meter spider to the Vegast arms (for an extra 650€ for a limited time) like in the photo at top. There’s even an e-bike specific version just revealed for use with Fazua drivetrains.
The pair of forged & CNC-machined 6082 alloy Vegast 24 arms on their own are said to weigh 383g (175mm), plus 145g for the 24mm nickel-plated steel axle, plus whatever spider or chainring option you choose. The Vegast 24 arms have a 148mm Q-factor and yield a 43.5mm chainline.
Vegast 24 crankset setups are available now, made entirely in Spain. Pricing starts at 125€ for arms & axle, from 290€ for a complete crankset with a direct mount chainring, or from 325€ complete with a modular spider and chainrings. Choose your own adventure, and keep the door open for future all-road upgrades.
