Remember those mystery mounts on the newest Pivot Switchblade? After promising us a new accessory with an unnamed accessory company, Pivot is finally ready to introduce their take on integrated tool storage. Thanks to a collaboration with Topeak, the Pivot Phoenix Dock Tool System provides quick access to your tools – but not just on a Pivot.
While the Phoenix Dock was designed to work with the additional accessory mount under the top tube of the new Pivot Swtichblade, the system will fit anything with standard water bottle bosses. The two bolt standard is the same width as regular twin water bottle bosses, so you could easily mount one to most bikes.
When Pivot set out to create the Dock System, they didn’t want a completely hidden tool storage that made them hard to access. “We love the idea of on-bike tool storage. However, many hidden tools take longer to access then actually completing the repair. We wanted to design a system that makes accessing the tools faster than reaching into your pack,” says Pivot Cycles President and CEO, Chris Cocalis. “Now you can also have the cleanest setup and be the quickest to get back to riding or offer assistance to other riders in need.”
That speed is ensured thanks to the quick latch system of the weatherproof hardshell polymer tool case that is bolted to the frame. Presumably, the fact that they call it weatherproof means that the tool won’t get all rusty and crusty as it rides along on your bike.
Available in two versions, the Phoenix Dock will include either a 16 function Ninja Tool Box T16+ or 23 function Ninja Tool Box Mini 20 Pro.
The 16+ includes a 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 2.5 & 4 (L-type) / 5 / 8 mm Allen wrenches, 4 / 6 mm hex sockets, T10 / T15 / T25 Torx wrenches, #2 Phillips / flat head screw drivers, 14G / 15G spoke wrenches, CrMo steel chain tool, and chain hook.
With a few more tools, the Mini 20 Pro offers a 2-L / 2.5 / 3 (2 pcs) / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 mm Allen, T10 / T25 Torx, #2 Phillips / Flathead, 14G / 15G / Mavic® M7 / Shimano® spokes, Chain tool, Secondary chain link fence, Chain pin breaker, Self-tightening tool, Hardened steel bottle opener with spoke holder, and Super hard anodized tire levers.
On the T16+, the 2.5/4mm L-wrench stashed in the side of the tool can be inserted into the hollow 8mm Allen wrench to provide extra leverage.
That same L-wrench then doubles as the chain tool handle.
Pricing for the Phoenix Dock Ninja Tool Boxes is set at $52.99 for the T16+ and $56.99 for the T20.
In addition to the multi-tools, Pivot will also be offering the Phoenix CO2 Dock Ninja which uses the same mounting standard.
The holster will house two 16g threaded CO2 cartridges and a Micro AirBooster CO2 inflator. You’ll get all of the above for $46.99.
