Ride a 24 hour self-supported Parallel adventure on the summer solstice – With most if not all events cancelled around the globe this summer, the bikepacking adventure-hungry bunch at Apidura wanted to create a fun way to mix the chance for a solo long-distance challenge with a ride anyone can do responsibly. The concept is a remote challenge the prioritizes not total distance or elevation covered, but rather straight line distance. How far as the crow flies from start to finish.

You don’t necessarily have to get the furthest from your starting point, but that’s how every participant’s rides will be compared for a 24 hour period on the longest day of the summer in the northern hemisphere. (It’s gonna be especially tough for those on the bottom half of the globe!) Maybe it’s an excuse to ride due north for a day, or to take the long way around to cross a large body of water or other impassible obstacle.

In any case, it’s an excuse to get out and ride, together but safely apart from cyclists around the world on June 20-21, knowing many others will be doing the same. What can  you win? Pride of having gone on an adventure. Full details on how to join in over at: Apidura.com/Parallels

  • Act now for improved US eMTB trail Access – Better access for e-bikes on federal public lands is on the horizon. Current federal land management laws do not recognize and properly categorize modern, low-speed e-bikes, but you can help change this by submitting a letter in favor of updates to these laws. To make things easier People For Bikes have summarized each of the potential updates on their e-bike rulemaking webpage and drafted comments for individuals to submit to each agency. Get involved to have your voice heard to support responsible e-biking. PeopleForBikes.org
