Cane Creek pivots to next limited edition brake color, the eeBrake El Fuego

Since taking over sales and manufacturing of eeBrakes, Cane Creek has been having some fun with the colors. In addition to the standard version with anodized black and silver accents, Cane Creek has introduced a rolling limited edition lineup with two limited edition brakes per year.

For the first half of June, the newest eeBrake option is the El Fuego – with a combination of platinum and burnt orange anodizing.

Available in either standard or direct mount configurations, the brakes are only sold in a complete set of two.

Priced at $680 for the pair, orders for the El Fuego must be placed by June 15th, 2020 and shipments will begin in July.

Are these flat mount? How do they grab a rotor? I don’t get it.

The DM eeBrakes for the Tarmac SL6 UL had coil return springs hidden on the backside of the brakes. Why can’t that be the configuration for all direct mount eeBrakes? Imho, the arch spring on the front of the brake takes away from the aesthetic.

Anyone know if there’s any performance difference between the coil spring version vs. the arch spring?

They are worth the $$$ if you want to mount really wide wheels and tires. They are sort of your only option. I’ve got 2 sets on my 2 bikes because I wanted to mount Reynolds Aero 65 and 80 wheels. I must say the combo works like a dream, collective braking and stopping. Power almost threw me off the bike initially, coming off a set of 404 firecrests and Enve’s. If you want/need wider these are the widest at the moment and quite effective. But yeah, it’s a bitter pill to swallow investing so much in rim brakes at this point….
