The Vittoria Reaxcion XC Wheelset gets a complete overhaul for 2020 with a new 28 mm internal width rim profile and an all-new DT Swiss Star-Ratchet hub with 24 POEs and 15 degrees of engagement. The new wheelset is offered with alloy and carbon rim options and is compatible with SRAM XD, Shimano HG and Microspline drivers. Here’s everything we know about the new Reaxcion XC MTB Wheelset.
New Vittoria Reaxcion XC Wheelsets
The Vittoria Reaxcion XC wheelsets see some significant updates for 2020. The most notable of these is the addition of a new hub, made in conjunction with DT Swiss. It uses a star-ratchet system, the free wheeling of which is said to be nothing less than exceptional, making the wheel fast-rolling and almost silent.
Rims are redesigned for 2020, increasing in internal width to 28 mm with an external width of 32 mm for both the carbon and alloy versions, front and rear wheels.
The rims retain an asymmetrical design offset to the drive-side for increased stiffness. The new rim profile is said to give a shallower tire profile with a larger air volume, resulting in more grip.
As a result of the asymmetry, spoke lengths are equal on each side at 294 mm. Twenty-four Sapim Race stainless-steel straight-pull spokes, butted in profile (2.0/1.7/2.0 mm), lace the rim to the new DT hub.
About that new DT Hub
Vittoria designed the new hub in conjunction with DT Swiss specifically for the new Vittoria Reaxcion Wheelset. It uses DT’s star-ratchet system, based on the DT SWISS 350 hub internals offering 24 points of engagement, engaging every 15 degrees.
Vittoria are offering the complete wheelsets with center-locking hubs only for both the alloy and carbon version. They are compatible with 11s and 12s cassettes, with the use of XD, HG and Microspline drivers.
