What a finish for the 2020 Tour de France! For a race that risked being completely overshadowed with the threat of coronavirus, the Tour delivered with incredible racing that didn’t see the overall winner decided until the mountain time trial of the second to last stage.

With that, Tadej Pogacar rode into Paris on a yellow Colnago – equipped with the Prologo Scratch M5 saddle. As an official partner of the UAE Team Emirates, Prologo supplied the saddles for the team, but the specific saddle choice is still up to the rider.

For Tadej, that choice resulted in the use of the Scratch M5. While the M5 is offered in their PAS (Perineal Area System), Tadej opted for the standard M5 which uses an open base, or Active Base System, which is a hollowed structure with a cover in the center of the saddle.

It also features their Multi Sector System, which breaks the saddle into five different ‘mapped’ zones with active foams meant to work together during the “pushing and pulling phases” of pedaling.

Questions?

This is where you come in. Prologo is stepping up to answer any questions you may have, whether that’s about their saddles, or the Tour de France in general. Of course, if you ask who will win the Tour in 2021, they probably won’t be able to answer that with much certainty, but the team at Prologo will attempt to answer all of your questions to best of their ability!

If flex of the seatpost is so important for compliance and comfort of a road bike why don’t saddles play a part in this? I see moving from steel to titanium to carbon fiber for the rails as a weight savings thing, not a comfort thing.

That’s correct carbon rails are far far stiffer if you want more comfort metal rails will provide some amount of flex, that’s known. My question is, why are prologo saddles always so damn STIFF even in their foam sections?! I love their design concepts and aesthetics but riding their saddles (I’ve tried all their top 3 for years each time a new model is released) is like being punished by the Spanish Inquisition. I don’t have this issue with selle italia, specialized, shimano and various other brands I’ve tried . Why the hell does prologo use such stiff foam? Have not seen or tested this latest saddle however….
