RockyMounts VanTrack proposes a simple new adaptable, wheel-off fork mount system that can secure more bikes into the back of your truck or custom van build, either built-in or able to be moved around. Using a two-grove layout, VanTrack lets users offset or even angle each bike to pack them in tight, using almost any of their standard fork mounts.

As more of us bikers try to pack their bikes into the tightly organized confines of their own #vanlife, more efficient and more secure storage is always welcome. Expanding on their previous single track bolt-on rail, RockyMounts new two-track VanTrack doubles down with more options and adjustability.

How does it work?

By simply adding a second track groove, offset about 2.5″ users can stagger bikes so there’s less interference from one handlebar to the next. Or they can angle fork mount blocks with one bolt in each rail to pack bikes even closer together.

And while their original mounting track was designed only for bolted-down use, the wider VanTrack gets rubber feet on each end so it can be simply placed on the floor of your van or truck bed to hold bikes in place & properly separated. And then you can strap the bikes down or otherwise secure them inside your vehicle.

The two-slotted alloy VanTrack is said to be compatible with “all” RockyMounts fork mounts. But due to the ~2.5″/62mm spacing of the slots their HotRod, Driveshaft HM & LoBall fork mounts will be the best to work angled (their bolt spacing of 96-110mm results in angles of 34-40°). RockyMounts expects you can carry up to 6 bikes on their long track, with a weight rating of up to 35lb/16kg per bike (with front wheel removed)

The RockyMounts VanTrack is available for $60 for the short 24″/61cm version, or $120 60″/152cm long version (and can be presumably trimmed down to fit narrow custom installations). Both options include two sets of track hardware to install two fork mounts (more hardware available separately), non-slip rubberized feet, and bolts to mount to the floor. You have to provide your own fork mounts which sell for between $25-80 each, depending on model (none are included with the track-only VanTracks).

The new VanTrack setup is available now, direct from RockyMounts and their distributor network & dealer shops.

  1. In my experience, rocky mounts products are pretty good. With one glaring exception being the Driveshaft fork mount. Completely impossible to securely or safely hold the bike since there’s zero axial tension on the fork axle. Bike flops around. Fork threads wallow out. Etc.
