Canyon has a new Spectral:ON eMTB powered by the in-demand, super-powered Avinox M2S e-bike motor. And with top-tier lightweight, full-power stats – 1500W, 150Nm, 700Wh – and a premium build kit, it offers pretty impressive value. But the trick is, it’s still really just a tease. While we have the full details now on the core of the bike and a single CF9 build, Canyon’s new Spectral:ON eMTB won’t actually be available to order until December. And they won’t start shipping them until the start of 2027.
So read on for more details. And maybe start saving up your pocket change. But don’t get too excited about riding the new eMTB just yet…
2027 Spectral:ON Avinox-powered all-mountain eMTB

The big news here is really that Canyon are switching from Shimano to Avinox motors for their do-it-all, 150/160mm travel Spectral:ON all-mountain eMTB platform. That’s no surprise really. We quite liked the ride of the previous generation of this eMTB platform. But while ebike powertrain makers have continued to innovate in delivering more power, improved control, and end-user ride customization, Shimano’s EP8 motor has stagnated.

DJI come Avinox’s latest M2S motor then, becomes the easy choice. It is crazy powerful, arguably too much so in some settings. But it offers truly wide-ranging adjustability, so you can tune it how you like it to feel, all while still having that maximum rocket-powered boost available at the touch of a button when you want it.
Tech details

What you get is a proven carbon Canyon ebike platform with 150mm of rear wheel travel from a classic 4-bar suspension, all-mountain geometry updated for a light & powerful build, mullet complete builds but full 29er possibility with chainstay flip-chips, plus Avinox’s most powerful M2S ebike powertrain.

Canyon said their goal was to “create one of the lightest, most powerful, and most natural-feeling e-MTBs yet. And at just 20.8 kg for the LTD model, with 150 Nm of torque and 1,500 W of peak power, this is the one.“

Pricing, options & availability

As of now, we only officially know the details of one Spectral:ON Cf9 build, at a claimed 21.7kg complete. For £6700 / $9500 / 7000€ that gets you a Fox Factory suspension setup, a SRAM X0 AXS Eagle Transmission, Maven Silver brakes, and carbon DT Swiss HXC 1700 wheels. While it is being teased starting today, you will first be able to pre-order the new Avinox-powered Canyon eMTB starting on December 4th, from their website. The first ebikes will begin shipping January 19th, 2027 to most global customers, with US buyers getting their bikes a few weeks later in February.
Beyond the CF9, Canyon says they’ll unveil a limited-edition 20.8kg build in mid-November, a more affordable CF8 spec on that December ‘pre-order launch day’, and then an even more affordable CF7 spec on delivery day in January. All 4 models will share the same 2.9kg carbon frame, same Avinox M2S motor, and same 700Wh internal battery to deliver max power pedal-assist.
