Canyon’s popular, XC race-winning Lux CF SLX mountain bike gets a new MvdP signature limited edition frameset, so you too can race on the same bike as Mathieu van der Poel. Painted in the same team blue as van der Poel’s own race bike and with the same top-tier Fox Factory suspension, it’s the perfect platform to build up your own elite-level cross-country race bike…

It had apparently been almost two years since he’d last raced the mountain bike World Cup, but MvdP kicked it off in style aboard this latest iteration of his Lux. But with a delayed Tokyo Olympics set for this summer, he’s looking to rack up some more points for a starting position in the hunt for gold.

In the first two rounds of the 2021 UCI MTB World Cup, van der Poel has ridden this Lux to two consecutive XCC short track wins. And in the full-distance XCO cross-country races, he’s added one second step on the podium so far at the start of this season.

The signature edition Canyon Lux CF SLX MVDP frameset gets the same subtle mixed matte & gloss sky blue paint job as van der Poel races on, down to the graphic of him x-ing up on his CX bike and a reminder under the toptube to “Let the legs do the talking.” It even gets a unique bas relief MvdP headbadge under the paint.

The 1662g (in MvdP’s medium) SLX carbon frame gets the same 100mm of travel front & rear as van der Poel’s race bikes, outfitted with a Fox Factory 32 Step Cast fork and Float EVOL rear shock with combined remote lockout. Completing the setup is Canyon’s light & stiff one-piece CP08 carbon cockpit so you get the max of stiffness and control.

Canyon Lux CF SLX MvdP edition – Pricing & availability

The signature Canyon Lux CF SLX MvdP edition sells for 3500€ as a frameset only, in sizes S, M & L. Only 50 framesets have been made and will be offered worldwide, so jump on this if you want to ride the same XC race weapon as Mathieu van der Poel. Oddly, that seems to be the same price we were quoted for the same frameset without a fork or bar last autumn!

MVdP runs a 34sc

That just shows that going “slacker” doesn’t always mean “better”. Lux has a very conservative geometry (70deg head angle for a full-sus. XC bike is steep), yet it still is a superbly capable machine. Not every bike has to be a downhill monster, some people like their nimble ‘best for climbing’ XC bikes (me included).

Or it shows that when you’re the best athlete in a generation the bike’s numbers matter less.

Mr. Myers is correct. mvdp runs a fox 34 SC

Which also means its likely a 120mm fork (Fox does not produce a 100mm 34SC). Which means that Mvdp’s bike is slacker than the stock bike. Canyon really needs to update the geometry of this bike, its become quite dated IMO.

Just because Fox doesn’t sell a 100mm 34 SC doesn’t mean that the pros don’t potentially have one. Also most Fox forks have travel that can be reduced.

Slacker, the new SC 34 comes in 100 or 120

The problem with your logic is that a long reach and 65° head angle does not make you climbing slower, it’s just the same. But what is sure is that it’s just a pain in the ass to ride such 70° head angle bike downhill for a none super-skilled rider on a track known by heart.

How tall is the guy? He looks super tall and his bike looks like a clown bike under him.

Its a beautiful frame, but those gaudy Orange Fox forks kill it!

It doesn’t matter not only for the best, but also for amateurs…

So dear manufacturers – stop pushing all those “revolutionary” geometries straight in our faces while saying that we need them and telling us our current bikes are outdated!
