Swift Industries have a great-looking new EDC saddle bag called the Every Day Caddy that combines the ease of access you get with some bikepacking setups in a small 1L size for every day carry. And as part of their annual Swift Campout motivation to get us all to go bike camping over the summer solstice, the EDC is available in this limited edition purple version, along with matching big Catalyst Pack or small Kestrel bar bags, and a Sidekick stem pouch, too…
Swift Campout limited edition Every Day Caddy saddle bag
Playing on the every day carry name, Swift’s EDC is the new Every Day Caddy. The big for a saddlebag, tiny for a bikepacking bag EDC is a two-piece setup meant to carry your trailside repair ride essentials like a spare tube, tire levers, multi-tool & mini inflator.
By keeping the main purple harness/holster attached to your bike it stays secure, then the removable roll-top stuff sack makes it easier to get to everything you have packed inside, with an added bonus of extra protection.
Saddlebag Tech details
The $80 Every Day Caddy saddle bag uses a tough VX21 X-Pac fabric for the outer body harness, with a HDPE plastic insert to give it structure. A 15″ Voile strap secures the harness around your saddle rails, a simple bungee strap loops it around your seatpost, and an extra velcro loop retention strap that goes over the back of the complete setup if you want.
Inside is a lightweight Dyneema Grid Ripstop stuff sack where you pack your essentials. A roll-top closure allows you to keep the bag packed tight up to its max 1L storage capacity, then it clips directly into the buckles on the side of the outer harness.
The Swift Campout edition comes in this purple that X-Pac calls Mulberry, but for the same price there are also standard edition Coyote khaki, Black & Dark Green for those averse to bright colors. The 1L Every Day Caddy weighs 106g/3.75oz, and is made in Seattle, WA just like all of Swift Industries gear.
Swift Campout Catalyst+Kestrel bar bags & Sidekick in matching purple
Swift says that every year they gear up for summer with an ultra-limited, special edition batch of Swift Campout bags. This year’s collection is based on illustrations by Chris McNally, whose mushrooms adorn the bar bags, and of course it all comes in this great-looking purple.
We’re assured that Every bit of purple Mulberry X-Pac will sell out, so act fast if your adventure bike needs an infusion of color.
For those looking to adventure farther, the $170 Swift Campout Catalyst Pack handlebar bag offers the most storage. The 6L pack is 27.5cm/10.8″ wide so that it should fit comfortably between even narrow drop bars. It gets an internal HDPE liner for structure, a large main compartment with internal compression strap, a small zip pocket on the flap, and a pair of main body straps line with reflective tape to keep it all secure or lash on some extra gear out front.
There’s even a set of attachment points sized for classic saddle loops for those wanting to hang a Catalyst behind their Brooks saddle.
The smaller Kestrel bar bag & Sidekick stem bag also get the purple Swift Campout treatment.
The $128 Kestrel Handlebar Bag is a 2L pack with two externally top & front accessible pockets via waterproof zips. Inside there’s also another zippered pouch and some more organization pockets to stow all your goodies, outside lashing points to attach the stem bar or hang other gear too. It’s essentially Swift’s Ardea hip pack strapped to your bar.
The $50 Sidekick Stem Pouch is a 1L bottle bag that you can mount to your stem, bar, Wald basket, or Kestrel. Stuff it with ride snacks, or even a big 1L Nalgene bottle.
What is the Swift Campout anyway?
The Swift Campout idea is a call to get outside on your bike. Ride somewhere on the summer solstice weekend, sleep outside, then ride back home. This is Swift’s 7th year running for their Campout and they’re giving away a bunch of gear to help convince more people to sleep under the stars for the shortest night of the year in the northern hemisphere.
All you have to do to enter is sign up for the event & their newsletter at the Campout page, and you’ll have a shot at a full Swift Campout pack setup including the new Swift Every Day Caddy, a guided trip from Swift Adventure Co., and a ton of other gear from participating partners like Bedrock sandals, Snow Peak camping gear, Kitsbow & Rapha clothing, Nocs mono & binoculars, Ombraz sunglasses, Black coffee, Reyr fishing gear & more…
