Craft Cadence is far from a household name in the United States. But the company’s workmanlike designs have gained traction among the bike commuter crowd in London, where it originated. The designs reflect the UK’s rainy climate and the necessities of urban a-to-b riding. The textiles are coarse and waterproof; the bags are multi-functional and sometimes modular; the mask protects against viruses as well as pollution.

Here’s a rundown of the modest but utile Craft Cadence lineup.

3-in-1 wallet

The Craft Cadence wallet consolidates cards, cash and a few tools and it’s big enough to fit the biggest phones. The TPU coated 600D poly pouch fits in a typical jersey pocket and resists intrusion from elements and water. It closes with a YKK zipper.

Stash CO2 canisters, tubes, tire levers, Allen keys, multitools etc. The wallet looks broadly appealing in its unadorned utility — it’s just as easy to imagine it in the pocket of a high-tech jersey as in an army surplus backpack.

Handlebar/shoulder bag

With a detachable shoulder strap, the 3-3.5L waterproof handlebar bag turns into a portable satchel. Its seamless welded constructed, 500D tarpaulin material and clamshell shape give it an IPX5 waterproof rating, which means it defends against splashing water at any angle. There’s an attachment point for a light on the front.

The company gives a practical sizing nod to photographers, saying it’s big enough to fit a DSLR camera plus lenses and an extra battery pack. A mesh pocket inside helps keep things tidy.

Finally, it attaches with a hook-and-slot strap system inspired by skis. Craft Cadence opted for the format instead of velcro in a bid for more security. The bag also comes in safety yellow.

Capacity: 3-3.5L

Craft Cadence Recycled PET jerseys

Jerseys for men and women are made from 100% Global Recycling Standard (GRS) certified recycled technical fabric. Made from recycled PET bottles, the jerseys get zipper guards, 2cm hem grippers to prevent riding up, three pockets and reflective touches. Each Craft Cadence jersey is available in five sizes from XS-XL, measured at the chest, waist, and hips.

Waterproof roll-top commuter backpack

The Craft Cadence 30L roll-top backpack is hip and highly visible, built from the same yellow tarp material as the handlebar bag.

Cushy EVA panels on the back should help channel air, and the rolltop closure and 600D fabric give it an IPX5 waterproof rating (splashing water from any angle). That should keep your laptop safe under typical riding conditions. The internal organizer is removable, and fits laptops up to 17”. Mesh pockets near the roll-top hold wallets, keys, etc.

For a waterproof pack of its size, it’s not all that heavy at just over two lbs. If you’re not into the yellow, go for the black version.

Dimensions: 25.6” (unrolled) x 16.5” x 7.1”
Capacity: 30L
Weight: 35.3 oz.
MSRP: $113

Craft Cadence Anti-viral N99 masks

Acknowledging the necessity of a masking up in the ongoing pandemic era, Craft Cadence offers an anti-odor, anti-microbial mask. Calling it the “world’s first N99 pollution mask with Polygiene ViralOff and Biostatic, the N99 design uses an anti-viral treatment from Swedish performance textile maker Polygiene that claims to reduce viruses by 99% in two hours — including SARS-CoV2-2. An internal, reusable nanofiber layer filters particles at .3 microns. For comfort and coverage, the mask includes a moldable nose wire and chin wrap.

Polygiene treated masks

It’s odor-resistant, made from recycled polyester and has a pocket for an optional replaceable filter if needed—it’s said that the built-in nanofiber filer is completely reusable and retains its filtration efficiency even when washed, so the optional filter pocket would only be used “after the nanofiber filter has reached its useful lifespan,” which is about 30 washings and 300 hours of use. Two masks come in a pack, so you can wear one while the other’s in the dryer. The mask comes in three sizes — if you’re not sure which one to get, Craft Cadence offers measurement instructions. Spend a little extra and get the ViralOff carrying case.

MSRP: $63 (2 masks)

Downtube shifters too!
Is there a problem with buying something nice, which looks great too? 😉

I like that phone wallet. More waterproof than what I’m using now and allows me to remove a few tools from my over-stuffed under-saddle bag. Yes, kind of expensive, but not surprising for a small company with small production runs.

A pitch for the zip lock bag – waterproof, fits nicely in your pocket, small snack size perfectly condenses a tube/lever/co2 load, big size for longer days or MTB. Essentially free, and never a problem to find a new one when it gets old.
