Arriving alongside the updated Trek Checkpoint is a new venture for the folks at Bontrager — bags. Yes, Bontrager has produced bags in the past, but these are burly bike packing bags aimed at keeping your most precious gear dry and your mind at ease.
Bontrager’s new aptly named Adventure Bags are the latest addition to a growing exploration segment at Trek. The bags are perfectly paired with the new Checkpoint launch and spare no expense on quality materials or construction.
What is it — Bontrager Adventure Bags
The new bags from Bontrager are a premium touring and adventure-focused add-on to help get riders to explore the world beyond the pavement. The line includes three separate bags; frame, handlebar, and saddle — that will take the rider and their gear to their destination safely.
Bontrager Adventure Boss Frame Bag
Replacing the existing Adventure bag, this updated and upgraded version includes some of the main features of the previous model; high-viz and two main storage pockets. Bontrager upped the storage and organization, adding internal segmented pockets. The material is a waxed canvas-looking fabric with a durable waterproof finish — tough yet eye-catching.
The Adventure Boss comes with enough room to stash the essentials and keep them safe from the elements. The zippers are beefier too and offer waterproof protection from the elements and large pull tabs for easy access with thick gloves. The new Adventure Boss comes in six sizes to ensure a clean, cozy fit. For those curious about the sizing and internal capacity for each, here’s how they breakdown according to frame size; 49cm-1.3L, 52cm-1.7L, 54cm-2.5L, 56cm-3.3L, 58cm-5.0L, and 60cm-5.9L.
Coincidentally, the sizes correspond with every size of Checkpoint. The bag connects via proprietary mounts for a clean look or installs to most other bikes with its included mounting straps.

Bontrager Adventure Handlebar Bag
If you’re looking for a weatherproof bag for all your precious gear — this could be it.
This overbuilt handlebar bag offers the same high-quality materials and construction as the Adventure Boss Frame Bag but goes one step further, adding ripstop waterproof material in high-wear areas, bungees, and all manner of tie-downs.
Its 9.7-liter capacity is decent and has external bungees for extra layers, tent poles, or whatever you forgot to pack in the Boss bag. The roll-top enclosure seals out the elements quickly and securely — plus it easily rolls down to a smaller size when not fully stuffed.
The new Bontrager Adventure Handlebar packs a 1.5-liter HydraPak hydration reservoir. The blatter tucks securely away in a zipper pouch so you can stay hydrated all day long. The bladder, hose, bite valves, and fittings are all standard HydraPak, so replacement parts are easy to find, when and if you need them.
A silicone hose port allows simple routing for hydration access. A magnetic attachment similar to the Bontrager Rapid Pack Hydro secures the hose and bite valve in place and is easy to access during the ride.

Bontrager Adventure Saddle Bag
Out back, the Bontrager Adventura Saddle Bag offers a solid 9.7-liter capacity and is crafted from the same overbuilt materials as the other Adventure Bags.
The Bontrager Adventure Saddle Bag uses super cool dual-buckles to secure the bag to saddle rails. A solid hook-and-loop strap holds the seat post to keep the bag from swaying when riding out of the saddle or on choppy descents.
The bag features a roll-top closure, similar to the Adventure Handlebar Bag that packs securely no matter the size of the load. Bontrager added a removable internal skeleton that adds structure to the bag without adding much weight or taking up space for easy packing.
Bontrager’s Adventure Saddle Bag features easy access “on the go” feature via a side located two-way zipper that easily accesses the middle of the pack without unpacking. Plus, if you did forget to pack something, the bag comes with the bungee and straps on top – so you can quickly get rolling without unpacking all your gear.
