Along with the launch of 4ZA’s new Cirrus Pro wheel line up, consumers will have a number of additional options when it comes to carbon. Much like their parent company Ridley Cycles, 4Za seems focused on high performance products that are just as happy on the race circuit as they are a fast ride with your friends. Representing the highest level of 4ZA wheels, the Cirrus Pro line use full carbon wheels almost exclusively and are all hand assembled in Belgium to offer a premium ride at an impressive price.
Combining options for tubular, clincher, disc, rim brake, and multiple rim depths, the 4ZA Cirrus Pros are worth a spin…
For a relatively small company, there are quite a few wheels to choose from including 8 different carbon tubulars, 8 carbon clinchers (two of those carbon/aluminum), and 5 different carbon builds for cyclocross with disc brake hubs. Ridley stated that all carbon rims were sourced from Asia, but every Cirrus Pro is hand built in Belgium to ensure a perfect build. Both tubular and clincher options have a 25mm rim width which matches with 30, 45, 50, 55, and 80mm deep rim profiles.
Predominantly, the wheelsets will be built with either DT Swiss 240 or 350 straight pull hubs, Aerocomp or Aerolite spokes in 20/24 spoke for rim and 28 spoke for disc, and Prolock Alloy nipples. While there were a few wheels floating around with 4ZA 6 bolt disc hubs, most of the disc cyclocross models are listed with either 350 or 240 straight pull hubs with Centerlock rotor mounts. Given the ability to switch end caps for DT Swiss hubs, thru axles shouldn’t be a problem. Wheelsets that are built on the 4Za hubs also include brass nipples to help keep the price as low as possible.
If weight is your main concern, the lightest wheels in the range include the T30 Full Carbon Disc Brake tubular at 1345g, the C30 Full Carbon Clincher at 1495g, and the T30W Full Carbon Tubular at 1340g. Much of that weight savings is due to the 200g difference between the 240S and 350 hubs.
All wheels include skewers and will retail from $999 to $1899 depending on the model.
