Old Man Mountain FLiP cages & bag mount finds 5 adoptees
Back in February, when there was plenty of snow on the ground to test the prototype Chiru Nanulak fat bike, Old Man Mountain debuted their new combo cage and quick-release bag rack together with their own Hemlock fork packs. It’s an easy-to-use system that we really like for the versatility of using bags or just cages. Now that more bag makers are on board, it feels like an even more viable solution for cyclists looking to haul all sorts of gear on their bikes.
It’s especially cool that you can now get custom fork bags and mini panniers from 5 more companies. So if you want a full coordinated kit of custom bikepacking bags, the FLiP cage mount gives you the opportunity to add more quick-connect gear storage when you want it, or pop them off when you don’t. For now, the first five bagmakers to adopt the system are Arkel, Jack’s Sacks, Nuke Sunrise, Pizza Box Designs, and San Util. But OMM tells us that more are still in development.

Arkel FLiP Forkpacker
Made from XPac colorful fabrics or tough EcoPak ULTRA fabrics with a waterproof sealed liner, it comes in handy 5L or 7L sizes. Thanks to the clever Old Man Mountain FLiP Cage’s quarter-turn mount, it snaps on quickly and stays put no matter the trail. Lightweight and sleek, it plays nicely with Arkel’s lineup like the SeatPacker, Rollpacker, and Taco—making your gear setup both fun and fuss-free!
Available in XPac Black, Ocean Blue, Cayenne, and Mountain Brown, matching the bikepacking collection colors, and coming soon, EcoPak ULTRA 200 for lighter and rock-solid toughness.

Jack’s Sacks Fork Sack with FLiP
The Fork Sack with FLiP features a roll-top closure, magnetic Fidlock buckle with custom engraving, and is structured so it holds its shape when packed or completely empty. The bags hold up to three liters of gear when fully closed but can expand as needed. Each bag includes the FLiP cage, which bolts onto your rack or fork mounts using two to three bosses. The FLiP Fork Sack is made to order, and customers get to choose their fabric and color preference when ordering.

Nuke Sunrise FLiP Pannier
A quick-detach pannier utilizing the Old Man Mountain FLiP system. Approximately 5-liter capacity per pannier with a water-resistant zipper closure. Features a water-resistant zipper with two nickel-plated sliders, glow-in-the-dark zipper pulls, and reflective tabs front and rear.
Approximately 8.5″ wide, 10″ tall, and 3″ thick. These bags will extend approximately 4.5″ from your fork leg or rear rack support due to the additional dimensions for the FLiP attachment. Perfect size for front fork mounts and a great addition to a rear rack 3-pack mount. While highly water resistant using high-performance XPAC fabrics, these bags are not seam-sealed.

Pizza Box Designs Super 6er Micro Pannier Set with FLiP
These little beauties are fun, functional, and sustainable. This classically styled bag is naturally water-resistant, holds 5.2 liters of gear, and weighs only 390 grams. They may look classic, but they offer modern high-tech features, including the FLiP mounting hardware from Old Man Mountain and a Fidlock magnetic closure.
They are made from beautifully dyed waxed canvas available in a variety of colors, and the liner is a mix of natural canvas and recycled canvas available in almost any print you can imagine. Even the thread used to assemble the bag is made from recycled materials. Every bag is made by hand, one at a time, and Jon Rizzo from Pizza Box Designs will work with you to create the pannier of your dreams.

Old Man Mountain Hemlock 7L with FLiP
Old Man Mountain’s own quick-detach fork pack offering is the Hemlock with FLiP; a 7L fully welded and waterproof bag. It features hypalon reinforcements on the bottom and lower half, where it’s most needed, and a lighter, more easily rollable ripstop on the top half. The bottom of the bag is flat and structured so you can set it down without it tipping over, making it easy to load and unload.
