While attending the 2025 Sea Otter Classic, I ran into Will at San Diego’s 5DEV booth. The bike outside the booth had some very handsome Kashima Colored cranks. It caught my eye, so I inquired within…

The cranks looked to match the Kashima color of the Fox fork and dropper post, beautifully tying the whole bike together. It so happens that the crew at 5dev may have found someone who can color their titanium bits that perfect Kashima color. So, they had a few samples on display: their titanium stem & top cap, titanium cranks, and chainring, as well as a cool prototype Wipperman chain.

Let’s take a closer look!

A stealthy black chain with matching gold rollers & pins? Wow.

Oh, and together with their 9-year-old DH-racing ambassador @Emi_shreds, 5Dev also teased that their classic open webbed titanium cranks will be coming soon in 155mm, too.

New 5Dev Bottom Brackets

5Dev also had a few samples of their new titanium threaded bottom brackets out to gawk at. They are adjustable for 68 or 73mm BB shells.

The CNC-machined Ti bottom brackets come with XD-15 Ceramic Hybrid ABEC-5 bottom bracket bearings. They also carry a limited lifetime warranty, backed by Enduro bearings.

New Cam Zinc E-Bike Cranks

Already available on 150mm, 155mm, & 165mm for freeride builds, check out these super short and burly cranks for eMTB now, too.

5Dev Shimano GRX 2X Spider Prototype

OK, this one’s not quite ready to ride, but offers a taste of what’s to come. Hint, 5Dev’s going to fit some Shimano 4-bolt gravel chainrings soon…

5Dev was also showing off this 3D printed prototype spider on their ti road/gravel/xc cranks to fit a set of Shimano GRX 2x chainrings.

Fivedev cranks are ugly, incredibly overpriced for an aluminum crank, and they break. I don’t understand the hype.

Think they’re ti unless you’re shopping on alibaba. I think they look like something off a spacecraft or robot.

I wouldn’t buy them but they’re cool in their own right.

Black/Gold Wipperman chain is old news, had a 10spd one back when it was current.

The precision on the cranks and bottom bracket are absolutely insane. Just installing a crank and BB, you can tell just how precise the tolerances are, super impressive stuff. Rides like high performance, but somewhat “future proof” and really built to last.
