The ATB-1T Evo is 6D Helmets’ newest 3/4 shell (in their own words) mountain bike offering. With help from Dynamic Research, the helmet won the Head Health Challenge III – a competition aimed at reducing head injuries. Its updated Omni-Directional-Suspension system [ODS] offers more travel than previous iterations, and new Low Friction Disks provide more freedom between EPS layers. Simply put, the ODS system allows an entire layer of eps foam to shift under angular torsion. The system manages to twist, bend, stretch and compress thanks to hourglass-shaped elastic dampeners. They claim this helps during low-speed impacts while high-velocity impacts are absorbed by the outer shell.
6D Helmets: ATB-1T Evo
We covered the ATB-1T earlier this year which painted a picture of what was coming in the ATB-1T Evo this fall. After a bit of refined tuning, an award, and a new color pallet we arrive at today. Its harness is dial-adjustable and connects with the inner eps liner. The polycarbonate shell has 15 vents for breathability and a removable anti-bacterial liner. Other features include their Fidlock magnetic buckle which simplifies one-handed buckling and a visor that’s adjustable and removable. The $250 ATB-1T Evo passes EN 1078 and CPSC 16FR 1203 safety standards and is currently available in sizes XS-S: M-L: XL-XXL
