Propain just announced a brand-new model in its growing range of mountain bikes, the TYEE Trail. With 145mm of rear travel, a 160mm fork, and a modern trail/all-mountain geometry, the TYEE Trail slots in as a capable all-rounder filling a gap in the Propain lineup. With this new platform, the brand offers varying wheel sizes, a choice between carbon and aluminum frames, a starting price of just $3,299, and extensive customization options through its online configurator.
And if you’re thinking, doesn’t Propain already have a TYEE in the lineup? Yes, the TYEE has been a staple in the brand’s lineup for years, evolving into the thoroughbred enduro bike that it is today. The new TYEE Trail (145mm) splits the difference between the longer-travel TYEE Enduro (160mm) and the shorter-travel Hugene (130mm) trail bike. It shares its DNA with its longer-travel sibling, but in a shorter-travel package that should make it a more versatile, efficient, and agile ride for trail and all-mountain riding.
Propain TYEE Trail Details

Propain is offering the new TYEE Trail with Blend Carbon and Aluminum Frames. Regardless of frame material, this new model shares the brand’s familiar frame silhouette with the rest of the lineup. That’s largely a result of the brand’s signature PRO10 suspension design, which controls the 145mm of rear wheel travel. That’s being paired with a 160mm travel fork.
With a wheel size flip chip on the rear suspension linkage, riders on M, L, and XL frames can choose between dual 29” or mixed-wheel setups. For shorter riders on XS and S frames, Propain aims to provide a more proportional fit and agile ride with 27.5” wheels.

Aside from in-frame storage, the frame features all of the modern touches that we’ve come to expect. Propain gives the rider options for internal cable routing with ports on the frame or through the headset if you prefer. The frames feature molded protection to guard against chain slap on the chainstay and seatstay, a downtube protector, bosses for a water bottle, and another set for a tool or accessory. Of course, there’s also a UDH for broad drivetrain compatibility, and the frame has 12 x 148mm Boost rear axle spacing.
PRO10 Suspension

Propain uses its PRO10 suspension design across all of its models. This unique-looking layout is a dual link design with a “floating shock,” which Propain claims “delivers excellent small bump sensitivity while maintaining consistent traction and support on demanding trails.” Based on the charts below, it appears to have anti-squat well over 100% through most of the stroke, which should provide a supportive pedaling platform, along with a leverage rate tuned for its travel length, air shocks, and intended use.

Geometry
With the TYEE Trail, Propain didn’t diverge too far from the geometry of its longer travel sibling, the TYEE Enduro, or other models in the lineup like the Sresh SL. There are some slight variances, but overall, the Trail has a progressive geometry that looks to align quite well with its trail and all-mountain use case.
The head tube angle is 64 degrees on XS and S frames, and 64.2 degrees on sizes M – XL. Effective seat tube angles are fairly steep at 77.2 degrees across all sizes, and reach measurements look relatively standard with ~25mm growth between sizes and 475mm on a size large. Chainstays are proportionally shorter on the dedicated 27.5” XS and S frames at 430mm, lengthening to 444mm on M – XL sizes. Check out the chart below for the rest of the details.

Propain TYEE Trail: Builds and Pricing
As mentioned above, Propain is offering the TYEE Trail in both carbon fiber and aluminum frames. The aluminum version will save you some cash, while the carbon will save you some weight. Either way, the bikes have the same geometry, PRO10 suspension, and should perform similarly on the trail.
Propain sells both carbon and aluminum frames as completely blank slates. Carbon goes for $2,699, and Aluminum sells for $1,899. For that price, it comes with an Acros headset, and you choose the color of the frame and decals. Buyers can add a shock and a few other bits at checkout for an additional fee. For example, the RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate adds $475 to the price, putting the TYEE Trail CF frame and shock at $3,174.

As with Propain’s other bikes, complete pricing is quite competitive, and they appear to be a good value in the current market. Complete bikes through the custom configurator start as low as $3,299 with an alloy frame, or $3,899 in carbon, and top out at $9,400 depending on what parts you choose. There are so many options that it could make your head spin, but it’s a great way to get the parts you want straight out of the box.
In North America, the TYEE Trail is available in two complete “Signature Specs,” each with customization options such as frame color, decal size/color, and head badge color. Check out the build specs and prices below.
