Introduced almost two years ago, absoluteBLACK’s GRAPHENpads make some big claims. Utilizing a graphene-coated and finned back plate plus a graphene-infused pad material itself, the brake pads lead AB to claim up to 35% improved braking performance on long, sustained descents. Apparently, the pads are good enough that Tadej Pogačar has been trying them on his own bike along with other members of Team UAE, despite not being contractually obligated to do so.

Performance claims aside, the big news today is that the pads have gotten a bit cheaper due to “optimized production costs”. For example, at the time of publishing in 2022, the SRAM eTap AXS pads were $62.99 per wheel. That same set of brake pads now runs $51.90. Still expensive for a set of disc brake pads, but it’s nice to see a price decreasing instead of increasing lately.

AB is also adding two new MTB fitments – SRAM Code and Magura MT5/MT7. Both sets of brake pads are $42.90 per wheel, though the Magura set is four pads (8 are needed per bike). Both are available now.

Your main selling point in this article, with Tadej Pogacar trying these brake pads, does not make much sense.
“Tadej Pogacar has been trying them on his own bike along with other members of Team UAE, despite not being contractually obligated to do so.
Try this instead:
Tadej Pogacar has been trying them on his own bike along with other members of Team UAE, despite being contractually obligated not to.
Has much more of a “rebel spirit” vibe to it like this. “Rebel spirit” sells. Trust me.

$50 per wheel? They better be damn good because that’s expensive as hell. There are other fantastic options for less

If those are as “good” as their derailleur cage then better avoid it at all cost…

Another ridiculous ripp-off product by AbsoluteBlack, I reckon.
Absolutely nobody needs these.

Hands down best pads i’ve ever used on my road bike. I went through at least 5 other alternatives and these just shine on downhill. Yes they are pricey but for me they are worth it. Haters gonna hate so keep it up guys as you made a great product.

If Tadej is using them without a contract, I´ll try.

Tried graphen pads after seeing Pogacar use them hoping they’d boost my confidence on descents. The braking power and initial bite are way better than my old durace pads. Had to relearn my cornering technique, but they’re totally worth it.

have them on my 4 pot SLX and Saint brakes. Really good, no fade even ion long downhills (ebike) , no wandering bite point that i have experienced before on Shimano brakes. Highly recommended !

Upgraded to graphen pads after hearing good things, and they’ve lived up to the hype. Better stopping power and much quieter.

i got a set when they dropped the price a few weeks ago. I used to use Swiss Stop Exotherm all the time, but I will admit, those AB pads are good…really good, and quiet. At this price, i will definitely buy again when they wear out. .
