The Sleuth and Sleuth DLX are longstanding models in the Five Ten mountain bike shoe lineup. Both shoes have been popular among flat-pedal BMX and mountain bike riders seeking casually styled shoes that prioritize pedal feel and grip. The new Sleuth DLX 2 builds on that foundation, but adds a vulcanized upper and an updated, arguably more stylish silhouette atop the grippy Stealth Phantom rubber outsole. These shoes are intended to perform on the bike and transition into the rest of everyday life.

“With the Sleuth DLX 2, we wanted to create a shoe that reflects how today’s riders actually live: moving seamlessly between the bike, the street, and everyday life,” said Tom Louage, Senior Product Director of TERREX and Five Ten. “We are also excited to introduce an added layer of protection through the vulcanized upper that, at the same time, brings a fresher, street-forward look to the model.”

This year, Five Ten celebrates ‘40 Years of Stealth’, which marks 40 years of the brand’s signature Stealth rubber. Over the years, Five Ten’s Stealth outsoles have become the gold standard for flat-pedal mountain bike shoes thanks to their consistent, class-leading grip. That continues with the new Sleuth DLX 2, which features a Stealth Phantom outsole and Five Ten’s signature dotty tread. That’s combined with a softer sole that flexes a bit around the pedal, enhancing grip and providing pedal feedback while allowing for a more natural gait.

The uppers give the shoes a decidedly casual style and everyday appeal. These shoes look like they’ll be right at home on the bike and fit in just as well pretty much anywhere else. The vulcanized uppers are abrasion-resistant with reinforced stitching to stand up to the rigors of bike and/or city life. Five Ten says they also feature a “slingshot heel for a secure fit” and an EVA-cushioned midsole for comfort.
