Bicycle tubes are notoriously difficult to recycle. A select number of shops offer recycling programs but with more than 13 million bikes purchased last year, the number of tubes that will eventually end up as landfill is staggering.
Alchemy Goods is stepping to the plate by offering high quality products made of upcycled bicycle tubes. This year they’re working to collect 200,000 used tubes for their expanding product lines – more than double what they collected in 2012.
In order to reach that goal, they’re now partnering with Trek and REI to expand their collection locations. Next time you head to your local REI or Trek dealer/retailer, bring your patched or popped tubes (and a 6 pack for the mechanics in back).
