Just got these pictures from Rudy Project with the news that a) Alexandre Vinokourov is now racing for the Kazakhstan National Team and b) he’ll be sporting Rudy’s shades and helmets (That’s a new RP 2010 Sterling helmet and Genetyk shades he’s wearing).

Vino, who dropped back into the peloton last week in a French crit race and then Sunday for the first stage of the Tour de I’Ain in France after serving a two-year ban for blood doping, had made it known he wanted to race for Astana, but as of now, he’s racing for his homeland’s national team.  He finished 81st on Sunday in a pack sprint.

Vinokourov plans to ride the Tour of Poland (August 2-8), the Vuelta a Espana (August 29-September 21) and the world championships (September 27). We say YAY!  More drama for next year’s Tour de France!

Hit ‘more’ to see a full body shot of his new team kit…

Click to enlarge.  The team kit is done by F-Tech.  Seems awfully similar to the Astana kit…
