NS Bikes are fashionably late to the eMTB party, but better late than never, huh? Their hat has well and truly been thrown into the ring with two aluminum models based around the proven geometry and suspension platform of the NS Define enduro bike. Choose from the 160/170mm travel E-Fine 1 or the 150/160mm travel E-Fine 2; both are mixed-wheel, with pricing starting at €6299.

We got a quick preview of the NS Bikes E-Fine eMTB at CORE Bike earlier this week, where Sam Reynolds’ rather ridden-in prototype was lingering at the booth of their UK distributor, Hotlines. His was armed with his sponsor-specific parts, including the SR Suntour Durolux 36 fork, Fast Suspension coil shock, Spank wheelset and Kenda tires. That is not a build spec that is available to the masses. What is available right now is the E-Fine 1 and E-Fine 2, boasting the same aggressive geometry but differing in battery capacity, motor model, travel numbers and build spec.

The NS E-Fine eMTBs are available in Small, Medium and Large, with reach measurements of 430mm, 452mm and 480mm, respectively. Chainstay length is fixed, consistent across the sizes at 455mm. The head angle sits slack at around 64°. Only effective seat tube angles are published, at 75.2° for the E-Fine 1 and 75.6° for the E-Fine 2.

Geometry is adjustable, however, thanks to the use of the now-ubiquitous flip-chip at the lower shock mount. Values quoted above pertain to the low position. Switching the chip’s orientation to put the bike in its high position raises the BB by 5mm and steepens the head and seat tube angles by half a degree. It also concomitantly increases reach by 4mm.

The E-Fine 2 is the more affordable of the two, retailing at €6299. It is also the shorter-travel option with 150mm in the rear paired with a 160mm fork. It is powered by the Shimano STEPS E7000 motor with a maximum torque of 60Nm, with the downtube housing a 504Wh battery.

An X-Fusion H3C Coil Shock is paired with a RockShox 35 Gold RL fork, with a Shimano Deore 11 Speed drivetrain and Deore 4-Piston brakes. Schwalbe Big Betty 2.4″ tires are seated on Octane One Solar rims laced to NS Rotary hubs.

The NS E-Fine 1 gets the higher-end build spec, including the 85Nm torque Shimano EP8 motor and a higher capacity 630 Wh battery. This one retails at €7599, fetching a RockShox ZEB Charger R fork, RockShox Super Deluxe Select Coil Shock, Shimano Deore 12 speed drivetrain, Magura MT7 brakes with 203mm rotors and Maxxis Assegai MaxxGrip DoubleDown tires on NS Enigma Rock rims.
