Allen Sports’ new ASL5X light sets come as a marched pair of polished alloy front and rear units with a versatile mounting system.

The front pumps out a claimed 280 lumen max as either a steady beam or blinking and runs off an included rechargeable AA battery. It’s plugs in with a USB cable, but the standard size battery means you could sub another AA in a pinch.

The rear runs off two coin cell batteries and has several output modes. It has six LEDs and emits 5 lumens worth of illumination. The mount swivels and adjusts to fit anything from a seatpost to a chainstay, which is a very nice feature.

Both are weather resistant. Bulbs are a bit recessed, so they’re mainly for fore/aft visibility, with no real side-facing output.

It’s available in gray or silver and retails for $54.99, though the Amazon link from Allen’s website shows a street price of just $39.99 with free shipping.

Good price but those clamps look sorta cheap like hose clamps painted black.

The rear is basically a hose clamp painted black which is why it’s versatile enough to fasten around anything from a “seatpost to a chainstay”.
