Pearl Izumi is seeking a Custom Sales Manager to oversee the custom orders department to make sure all the teams get their last minute orders in before the first race of the season (we’re kidding, sort of). Here’s the scoop:

The Custom Sales Manager (CSM), working within the context of the Company’s overall strategy, will develop and implement an effective business plan that will establish Pearl Izumi as a key provider of custom apparel. The business will support a long term strategy that aligns with the consumer focus of the organization and is both profitable and scalable. The position will be accountable for managing and delivering revenue targets.

The CSM will align and assist in building a focused and compact team that supports the multiple facets of the custom-team apparel business. The role will work closely with Sales, Product, International and Operations divisions to ensure that a dependable fulfillment business and custom supply chain are can grow in revenue and distribution over time. The CSM will be in an entrepreneurial position that will require a broad business experience within the apparel arena. The ability to provide various methods of leadership including Strategic planning, project management, process implementation, sales within the organization is essential.

Overall

# Implement existing strategy, product, distribution and pricing requirements. Align all departments in each area to achieve these targets.
# Deliver a business plan which will establish a profitable custom-team business.
# Expand and further develop appropriate process & procedures with which to manage & control the business.
# Always target a consumer focus and simplification of existing methods.
# Prepare all financial management tools and implement with ability to report monthly and annual revenue, cost and all related budget items for all sectors of custom business.
# Develop a product line that achieves revenue, gross margin, and profit contribution targets, whilst remaining true to the core values of each Brand within the Company’s portfolio. Scale the product line appropriately as the business matures.
# Support / Oversee the recruitment of all for the potential business customers.
# Align strategy of U.S. market with International Distributor and European teams.
# Other duties related to business as assigned.

Sales, Financial and Product Responsibilities

# Deliver annual sales targets for both the revenue and gross margin requirements set by company.
# Establish and manage the annual operating budget for the business.
# Continually work with sales management to review existing and new sales strategies with appropriate margin & cost considerations for the US, international distributors and the EU region as related to custom business. To include, where appropriate, incentives programs for sales & retail personnel.
# Develop an ongoing program of sales support tools.
# Support the training of sales management and representatives on the custom-team program
# Conduct on going competitor analysis by style, price and feature; target opportunities from a product and service perspective.
# Establish a calendar that will deliver product lines on time, at the right price & with cohesive trade & consumer sales support.
# Align products of the custom business to in-line product direction related to fit, features, quality and pricing.

Communications

# Clearly define communications requirements – internal, consumer & trade.
# Support the development of appropriate tools – Websites, advertising, press releases etc
# Participate in planning and execution of global marketing materials including catalogs, advertisement and sales materials.

Personnel

# Define personnel requirements for the business; prepare appropriate role responsibilities & remuneration packages.
# Establish & agree goals & performance metrics.
# Maintain ongoing personal reviews and mentoring sessions.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

# Minimum 7 years experience in sales, international business development, product creation, marketing; preference will be given to a candidate with a blend of this experience.
# Experience in sport(s) apparel and/or markets targeted by this line.
# Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
# Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
# Working with large volumes of detailed information is essential, as is the ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve problems
# Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
# Must be highly organized, efficient, and detailed
# Working knowledge of personal computers with strong experience in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Illustrator, and Outlook. Access and Customer database management experience preferred.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

# Demonstrable understanding of key drivers of sales in specific distribution channels in complex markets.
# Significant experience developing/implementing marketing strategies that have led to success in driving sales and achieving targeted objectives.
# Sales or marketing experience in wholesale, retail or direct businesses.
# International business experience

# Demonstrated experience in managing product gross margin and operating expenses.
