Especially for technical gravel and mountain bikers who don’t want to wear a backpack while pedaling, the new Apidura Backcountry Hip Pack offers a ‘just right’ amount of storage for short or long rides. Leveraging the highly-durable, waterproof construction of their bikepacking bags and combining it with the attention to detail and dialed-in fit of wearable like their Racing Hydration Vest, the new Hip Pack offers another way to carry your essential gear on the ride.

The on-body bikepacking-style hip pack is built from a mix of lightweight fabrics, most of which it shares with the Racing Hydration Vest. The main pouch is made from waterproof ripstop nylon with fully taped seams and a standard zip with a protective flap to keep your gear inside dry, plus Hypalon details to reinforce high stress points.

On the right side of the hip belt, a smaller lighter ripstop pouch with a zip keeps small items or snacks accessible while pedaling. And on the other side, an elastic mesh pouch is even easier to reach into, or offers a place to stow you snack wrapper trash.

The pack stays comfortably in place with a breathable mesh waist belt, with a wide velcro closure and bit of elasticized stretch mesh sides so it can move as you pedal. On top of that, a ladder-lock buckle and strap let you dial in a tighter, secure fit. And the contoured, padded EVA foam back panel of the main pouch is said to offer a comfy fit, extra airflow, and to be quick drying.

The hip pack has a total of 2.5L of internal storage, with an internal zipped pouch and several internal mesh dividers to keep all of your gear organized and easy to find. Apidura does well with helpful tiny details, like the zipper pull inside that doubles as a secure spot to stow a spare chain quick link.

Designed for the needs of off-road riders, Apidura says the new Backcountry Hip Pack is equally at home racking up runs in the bikepark all day, as it is on multi-day bikepacking adventures.
