Camouflage saddles come and go, but the limited edition Camo Skylite VT from Astute is probably one of the the most high end that we’ve seen. Based on their Skylite VT model, the camo version gets a bit of hunting flair with the Fluo orange nylon base layer visible on the sides and from the top and bottom. Astute is a high end Italian saddle manufacturer that we first caught wind of in the middle of last year. Now the brand has been picked up for distribution in the US by Fairwheel bikes, bringing beauties like the Skylite VT Camouflage Flou stateside. Built with carbon rails and equipped with Astute’s SPAS (Shock Pad Absorber System), the limeted edition Camo model will run $10-15 more than the $260 Skylite VT.
While the camo may blend in, the new Flou colors probably will not.
If you aim to go bright, rather than blend in, the new Fluo collection has you covered. Adding fluorescent (flou – get it?) orange, green, yellow, and fuscia to the existing Skylite VT models, the brighter options will again set you back $10-15 more than the standard $260 Skylite VT. The VT distinction means the saddle has a cutout, in case you were wondering – SR models go without the cutout.
The new Skylite VTs may be all about color, but there is a whole new line of saddles that Astute is offering that is all about size. Specifically, wider 145mm versions of their Skyline SR, VT, and Skylite SR, and VT models. Skyline saddles use a titanium alloy rail while the Skylite loses some weight with carbon and adds some comfort with SPAS – though both saddles uses triple density foam for extended ride comfort. Pricing for the 145mm Pilarga model saddles will remain the same as their narrower options, so $155 for the Skyline SR and VT, and $260 for the Skylite SR and VT. Each saddle will have a new all black or red/black color scheme available as well.
