The Shifts&Grins hitch rack is made to carry two bikes, and is designed to make installing the rack to your car and mounting your bike to the rack frustration free. It also boasts two neat features that Benton says you can’t find anywhere else.

Clever Features

Benton ShiftGrins Hitch Rack hole in one

Hole-in-One Hitch
Benton uses built in hitch alignment that aligns the hitch pin holes on your rack and hitch. Benton says this will eliminate the shimmying and finger-checking. Stating that putting the hitch pin in is like a hole-in-one every time. We’re pretty sure Saris had a feature like this at some point, but haven’t been able to track it down. If you have the details, drop it in the comments.

Benton ShiftGrins Hitch Rack Fun Button

The Fun Button
Not really an exclusive feature. But, when you give the Fun Button a push, it allows the Shifts&Grins rack to tilt down out of the way giving you easy access to your rear hatch.

No More Tripping, Just Flipping
This same Fun Button also you to flip the shank of the rack up. This allows for the rack to lay flat allowing for flat storage or you can hang it on a wall. Up and out of the way.

Saris just had a sticker that you place to indicate when the holes line up. 1up has an accessory that you slide on and lock in place with a set screw that stops the rack from going further into the hitch than necessary (indicating when the holes line up).

I found the one we were thinking of in my garage. It came with a Saris rack, can’t remember which one. MHS maybe? Same basic idea to this, slide the clamp to where it touches the hitch opening, then lock it in place.

“Cleaver Features?”

A friend of mine has this rack! His favorite features are definitely adding the 2-Bike Add-On without busting out any tools and the fold flat feature for storing in his garage. Robust rack that he’s been pretty happy with for the last year.

Other than the more convenient tilt I don’t see much advantage over the Kuat Transfer I’ve had for years. Nice to know If I need a second rack
