Coincidentally, on this day in 1997 Chris Farley was found dead in his apartment in the John Hancock Tower. RIP Chris, we miss your shenanigans.

You know what’s crazy? I was working at the Art Institute of Chicago at the time of Farley’s death with a woman who’s mother had a mutual friend of Farley’s. The day he died, I was talking to my coworker on an evening smoke break (yes, I’m a cyclist and a pack-a-dayer) and she mentioned that she had just spoken to her mother who was at work at the time. She had just come back from a looong three-hour lunch break where the three of them had met and evidently tipped (quite) a few, causing the mom a bit of a hard time maintaining focus. The three split up, all going their separate ways after that but then, the next day, the news came across that Farley had been found dead in his Hancock building condo earlier that night. Weird huh?
