I crashed on gravel in the first decent on this very stage in 1983 and ended up with 176 stitches. I still have small pieces of gravel visible under the skin of my elbow and hip. Had to abandon when the med-van guy tackled me as i tried to remount my bike. That course was custom suited for my skill set. I still wonder what might have been all these years later.
