At first glance, the new Canyon Lux World Cup CFR XC race bike looks a lot like the previous edition that debuted four years ago. But a closer look reveals a more capable, lighter cross-country race bike that’s destined to be faster. It gets 10mm more travel front and rear, and yet the new CFR frameset still is 4% lighter, or 23% lighter than the last CF frame. Plus, its geometry is way more suited to modern technical XC racing, with a much steeper headtube, slightly steeper seat angle, and longer reach – also making it a much more versatile ride.
Oh, and it’s a lot cheaper, too.
With the top-tier CFR frame now available in a complete bike build that’s 3000€ or 42% cheaper than the lowest-priced CFR bike in the previous generation… that makes all these new top-level race tech advancements much more accessible to the average XC racer.
2026 Canyon Lux World Cup CFR carbon XC mountain bike
“Faster, lighter, more capable than ever.” That all sounds good.
This new generation of Canyon’s top Lux World Cup CFR mountain bike was developed to build a more capable cross-country race bike. It did that together with some of the most successful pro XC racers.

In 2025 alone, Canyon athletes racked up 41 UCI World Cup wins on Luxes, plus “several” individual National Champ and World Championship titles. The inputs from those top racers really shaped how Canyon refined the new bike.
And they sought to make it more affordable. Because most Lux World Cup riders don’t have the support of sponsors and a pro race team.

But in evolving the Lux World Cup platform for more technical racing, Canyon seems to have also created a much more versatile lightweight XC platform overall.
What’s new?

There are five key changes vs. the previous generation that improve the new Lux World Cup platform
- First, the bike gets 10mm more travel front & rear, now to 120mm at the front paired to 110mm out back.
- To match the added travel, it also gets more progressive geometry for more capable descending, without sacrificing nimbleness. Its headtube is now 2.5° slacker, seattube is 0.5° steeper, and its wheelbase is 43mm longer with 5mm longer chainstays.
- The CFR frameset is also lighter. At 1480g, that’s 55g lighter than the 2022 CFR or 445g lighter than the 2022 CF frameset. And complete bikes are still as light at 9.82kg/21.6lb, even with longer travel, and all bikes coming stock with dropper posts now.
- Plus, it’s more adjustable. A new flip-chip at the lower main pivot lets riders tweak anti-squat to tune the bike’s pedaling efficiency feel to individual rider preference, chainring size, or track style.
- Lastly, the new Lux World Cup CFR is said to improve reliability based on a stiffer 3D-forged alloy rocker link and new circlip-secured bearings within the shock extension for greater bearing longevity.

Improved XC race kinematics

Canyon describes the new 110mm of rear travel as smoother and more consistent. The revised linkage-drive single pivot with flexing seatstays features a revised leverage ratio curve that is much flatter than the previous generation. The result is more consistent suspension progression throughout its slightly longer travel, allowing Canyon engineers to make the bike feel more active at sag without losing much in the way of pedaling efficiency. That more linear, decreasing leverage ratio allows a more plush suspension where the bike spends most of its time for improved rear wheel grip, especially on technical climbs, while retaining the same end stroke support that lets racers push the bike hard to its limits.

An ideal match combined with the newly slack 66° head angle, 5mm longer frame Reach, and 43mm longer wheelbases.

“Downhills are crucial — not just for speed, but for recovery. A good bike that lets you relax on fast, technical descents make a huge difference because whoever recovers best on the downhill wins the next climb.”
– Luca Schwarzbauer, Canyon CLLCTV XC racer & current German National Champ
More value in a more capable XC race bike

Did we mention it was more affordable, too?
The most expensive XTR Di2 build now is a thousand euros cheaper than the top-spec Lux WC CFR LTD of the previous generation was selling last season (and the same price as when it debuted more than 4 years ago). Plus, the top spec weight is the same as before, but now you get more travel and every model includes a dropper post vs. the lighter rigid carbon posts before – something that always confused us.
Plus, it’s already race-winning at the Cape Epic

“The Lux World Cup CFR has already proven itself in some of the toughest racing on earth. Luca Schwarzbauer of Canyon MTB Racing and Sam Gaze of Alpecin-Premier Tech executed three landmark victories at the 2026 Cape Epic on an unreleased prototype of the Canyon Lux World Cup.”

“Likewise, Canyon XC Racing’s Jenny Rissveds won all eight stages of the 2026 Cape Epic aboard her prototype Lux World Cup CFR, while racing alongside her husband, Simon Andreassen (Orbea Fox Factory Team), in the Mixed Pairs category.”
2026 Canyon Lux World Cup CFR – Pricing, options & availability

On the eve of the first UCI MTB World Cup of the season, and the first-ever XC WC race in Asia, Canyon drops five complete Lux World Cup bikes. Four of those are top-tier CFR carbon models with integrated 1-piece carbon bar+stem cockpits. Then, there’s one confusingly-named ‘only-CF’ model, which still gets the same top-tier CFR frame, just with a more conventional 2-piece cockpit.
CFR frame under a CF name

Pricing starts at just $5500 / 4000€ for the Canyon Lux World Cup CF 9 with its CFR-level <1500g carbon frame. Interestingly, that’s a full 3000€ cheaper than the most affordable CFR frame in the previous generation, albeit with a much more accessible spec here. The new Lux WC CF 9 gets a RockShox SID & SIDluxe Select+ suspension combo, SRAM Eagle 90 mechanical drivetrain, Motive Bronze brakes, and alloy DT Swiss XR1700 wheels, at a claimed 11.5kg.
All CFR, all the time

The 5000€ Lux World Cup CFR XT upgrades to the 1-piece carbon cockpit, plus a Fox 34 SL & Float SL Performance Elite suspension spec, a wireless Shimano XR Di2 groupset, and carbon Canyon SC 30 CF wheels, at a claimed 10.9kg.

The Lux World Cup CFR XO sells for $7500 / 6000€ with the RockShox Select+ suspension, SRAM X0 AXS, powermeter cranks, Motive Silver brakes, and carbon DT XRC1500 wheels, at a claimed 10.8kg.

The almost team-spec (just missing Flight Attendant) Lux World Cup CFR XX 7500€ moves up to SID Ultimate suspension, an XX SL group with powermeter, and premium lightweight DT XRC1200 carbon wheels, at 10.4kg.

And at the top, the Canyon Lux World Cup CFR XTR tops out at $9500 / 8000€ with Fox 34/Float SL Factory suspension, including a Transfer SL dropper, a Shimano XTR Di2 groupset, and carbon XTR wheels, all at just 9.8kg claimed.

Only the models with USD pricing will come to the States soon. Otherwise, the 5 models are available now in most global markets.
