BikeYoke extends Revive dropper seatpost out to 185mm

It was after the fall tradeshows last year that we saw the most recent update to BikeYoke’s unique Revive dropper seatpost design that allows riders to easily bleed off air that slips past its seals with an allen key. To anyone who has spent much time on dropper posts, the design is essentially an end to posts that get spongy then need to get their hydraulics serviced or replaced. Well, now BikeYoke is stretching out the Revive dropper in a new super long 185mm travel version. Plus, BikeYoke have also rolled out a couple of updates that get their start on the 185mm post, but will now extend out to the 125 & 160mm versions as well…

185mm Revive dropper seatpost

With a relatively low stack height of just 41mm for the post’s hardware above your frame’s seatpost clamp, the longer 185mm travel dropper could be a great option for taller riders looking to slam their saddles down even lower to rip through technical descents.

Tech Updates

As for the tech updates, all new Revive dropper posts get a new Microvalve membrane that promises even less air:oil mixture than normal, so even less chance for that spongy feel and less need to revive your dropper. The small flexible membrane sits in between the outer oil: air chambers, and has been designed to prevent air from moving into the oil when the bike is stored upside down or even on its side for extended periods. But then when you are actually riding on the post – slamming the dropper up or down – the Microvalve moves easily out of the way so it doesn’t impact the smooth action of the dropper. The Microvalve effectively reduces the frequency of the need to reset the Revive, while otherwise not affecting its operation.

The second tech update is a new mini integrated lever for the 4mm reset in the Revive’s head. A lot of riders asked for BikeYoke to bring back tool-free reset of the post, so they have come up with an optional integrated lever that can be secured into the same 4mm reset bolt with an o-ring. Keep it on the post, or take it off and stick with a standard allen to reset. The mini lever also can be retrofitted onto any current Revive (for 7€), if you’ve already bought one. All posts ordered direct from BikeYoke.com after Eurobike will include the new removable mini lever.

The new 185mm long droppers are available in 30.9 & 31.6mm sizes and can be ordered now from 420€ with a remote (including VAT in the EU, so 353€ outside of Europe), with deliveries expected to start in about two weeks time in mid August.

This is very interesting. I hope I will be able to test this and other products on Eurobike this year.

If you need that much drop, buy the next size frame and get a shorter post. What’s next, “Can you make a 300mm dropper? I’m 6’3″ but found this really good deal on an extra-small frame…”

maybe you guys should try riding some steep trails. Or if you actually were 6’3 you’d know that XLs often aren’t big enough.

Straw-man argument. Why on earth would you suggest that someone buy a huge frame for the purpose of running a short dropper? I’m 6’1″ with an appropriately sized large frame, but it has fairly short seat tube that allows great standover. I could use the additional insurance of a post like this that extends further into my frame instead of being close to the minimum insertion line.
