BMC’s new Carborazor CRZ is a carbon alloy mountain bike frame set up with compact road cranks and a carbon rigid fork and disc brakes to create what looks like a pretty comfortable yet capable city bruiser. The triple-butted front triangle and chainstays are alloy with carbon fiber seatstays, and the fork is BMC’s disc-only carbon Capt Ahab model. It’s decked out with Easton cockpit bits and a full SRAM drivetrain with Avid hydraulic stoppers. Check out the fork after the break…
UPDATE: We got punked (by BMC’s email newsletter). The Carborazor has been around for about 10 years, so what’s “new” is this particular model/spec. As for the comment on 26″ wheels versus 700c, here’s what BMC’s Lifestyle Product Manager T.K. had to say:
Alpenchallenge and carborazor models have traditionally been built with lighter, stronger, more flickable, easier climbing 26” wheels; well suited to Switzerland’s hilly, densely packed, urbanizations. For riders who value speed and stability more than acceleration and agility, their disc brakes have always made it easy to change to 700c wheels with narrower, road bike tires.
