It would be hard to argue against Eddy Mercx being the best bicycle racer ever. He won at least 525 races, including 7 times Milan-San Remo, 5 times each the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, 3 times Paris-Nice, and the World Hour Record, just to name a few. There is almost no significant race he didn’t win at some point. Could another racer dominate the sport as this man did?
Velo Press has released Mercx 525, a handsome coffee table book just in time for Christmas, which celebrates through pictures the life and career of Mercx, who wrote the prologue for this authorized pictorial biography. The book proceeds chronologically and contains 126 color and black-and-white photographs of his life and race action, many spreading over a whole large page or more for detailed inspection, as well as many 2-page vignettes highlighting significant moments in the racer’s racing career. It is available at major retailers as well as Amazon.
